Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

"Fuck!" Orlaith was someone to be known as a cocky, prideful wolf. They were someone who held themselves high, perhaps a bit too high, but no one truly knocked them down a peg to do so. A few fights here and there, a lose every now and then, but nothing like someone truly bringing down who they were ; a sin of pride and wrath. Yet they weren't totally battle hungry, just reckless, a pursuiter of power, an advantage above others.. She wanted respect.

She held herself so high, that the warrior did not think she could get lost within the pass. One could hear her rage, as she was now lost.. Within the mass.

He heard the bellowed obscenities and, immediately, recognised the voice to belong to Orlaith. Quicksilver rose his head high over the tangles of shrubbery for any sign of her, but the fire wolfess was much too deep within the maze.

The silverwhite had spent some time mapping it since Ira had located him at its outer edges, though he'd not been bold enough to venture too deep into its heart. He had daylight on his side this time, however, and the morning mist had long since burned away by the Summertime sun, and he pressed on to locate his troubled comrade.

“Hey,” the young medic announced his arrival and offered a low, friendly sweep of his white-dipped tail; Orlaith was a proud creature, and he dared not insult her rank by moving in too close or too enthusiastically. “Are you okay?”

Everytime she turned, there was another wall. Everytime she moved, there was a wall! Unknowingly Orlaith simply kept going deeper into it, and sometimes when she felt close to it ; went back to being lost. A reasonable would would've maybe started marking which path she took, but the warrior was growing more and more angry when she couldn't find herself a path, such a thought never came to be. Even an attempted to climb ended up falling back, a heavy body wasn't so used to doing so.

Yet, she was in a mountain range, where it's all climbing.

Goddamn it.

"How.." though when she turned at some point, there he was - Quicksilver. Some part of her couldn't fathom anyone else entering the area and not getting lost, so surely he too, was lost, "how'd you get here?"

Orlaith looked his way and he mustered a small smile, though she seemed confused at the sight of him. The druid twitched his ears backward and dipped his muzzle respectfully. “I...” he gave a nervous beat of laughter and swept his gaze over the stone walls surrounding them, and over a shoulder briefly at the path from which he'd come between them, “I heard you, uhm... yelling.”

He had followed her voice, simply, wishing only to aid in the guard's struggle. “I can show you the way back, if you'd like?”

since it crusty wrap here?

A tricksters pass, a way where it almost seemed the place kept moving within the trails, and yet the stones always remained unmoving. A maze of sorts that her mind could not wrap around as each end was always met with that of another wall — one for her side, it was hard to climb. Train body and soul her ass, all she could feel was pure frustration from not knowing where she was within this afternoon of a mountain path, and very much desired to leave.

She nodded, to the other, and motioned with her paw to lead the way so they can get out.
