Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Though perhaps not home, Vendrussel found it just as comfortable. The land she came from was an isolated group within the northern waters, they didn't survive on an island, as they didn't find one nearby.. And by the time they knew it, the group of dragons had lived in the shores for centuries, and no one seemed keen to move. There was pros and cons, she knew. Though safety as it was, they were always surrounded by water, never ending.

However the stoney perches around them caused great coverage, sometimes others may not see the weave through to their bountiful island within the middle. Full of life itself, birds would squander to the island and perch for. Though she couldn't say she found any rabbits, the occasional mice would go past her paws, but rabbits were also not to be seen. It wasn't surprising though, even if the island was large to hold, not many prey would dare to cross the threshold.

They took notice though, there was a path to get through. When tides were low and the waves were calm, a stoney pathway gave through to be discovered. Otherwise, like she did on the previous time, would have to dive into the depths, and be in Nathesdied's trust, the dragon who guided those within her waters, a safe barrier. Just as she did, when she dived.

Vendrussel took note though there other stoney pillars, some were able to get a grasp on in a climb. She dare not venture, but her eyes scored to the pathway her paws could possibly go on. There was a lot to be discovered, even could see there was a cave on the island, with fresh water nearby. She assumed once upon a time, this was island was part of the mainland, before the tides of centuries gone by, and it was brought away.

This, was her home now.

quick post

loa had always imagined whatever afterlife there was that her grann had whispered abot — it'd be a lot like margaritaville. but from the wrothful torrent spitting against the ebony rocks, this was nothing like margaritaville. the revenant girl retained a whole lot of her past save for why she was pushed off a cliff and the the surface blinked away.

a brewing storm passed above the sepulcher, misting rainwater gliding down until her form materialized from it. only a few minutes ago, there had been nothing, and now she was a something. ( from where she stood, a certain someone would be able to see her ). her lush archipelago was definitely far from here. every was all edged and foreboding, the water still lapping her ankles with condemnatory.

her fur was cast in disarray, curled and corded, water condensed in her lungs as if on a potlid. sea-froth crackling on her skin like brittle cassava, she shook her pelt and pursued her lip as she searched the shore with sparkling ocean jaspers. was she dreaming?

The sky was seemingly clear and beautiful, blue without a cloud to go. She perched upon one of the rocks leaning over the beach, calmly looking at the motioning waves, that slowly, were rising and growing angry. When her blue eyes looked above she could see the upcoming storms, and took a step back in surprise. Where had it come from? Vendrussel's ears flickered as she could hear the cackling thunder strike in the distance. At least for the time being she was safe, and watched the raging waves clash onto the islands beach.

Though the beach was struck! She could her fur flourish by the touch of electricity in the air, though the northern dragon remained unharmed, just a bit frazzled. When her gaze adjusted to the sudden shock of light, within that spot was a charred ground, and a wolf in it's waking.

It reminded her of her own appearance, similarly as the thunder came down to the desert ; Vendrussel found herself soaked to the bone, surrounded by dust and sand, and only a burnt underneath. Oh so familiar, such likeness to their appearance, she could not help but link in the destiny that perhaps what was granted. Did the dragons, send a someone else to help for this destined claim?

"Welcome to my island." Vendrussel smiled lightly, a crescent eyed look as she gazed from her rock and onto this stoney visitor.
