Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Amphitrite had been traveling, the sleepless nights once more beckoning her to the depths of the trees. She had not been one to stay in one spot for long and as she awoke in the middle of the night… it had felt strange becoming a part of a pack as quickly as she did. Everyone seemed to be exhibiting their memories returning but she had felt out of place. Claiming they had all been together in another lifetime… At first she thought everyone drank some bad river water. Upon further understanding they all seemed to be plenty genuine in a family oriented way… it also felt as if she had known them for her entire life. Strange.

Upon adventuring further outside of the territory's walls, her seafoam hues had pushed upwards to the sky. At first she had thought her imagination had run wild, with the lack of sleep for the past few weeks. Eyes ablaze as the stars began to glow brighter and soon enough it moved. A playful step in motion had caused her blink a few times in order to clear any mistake that she was indeed not crazy.

Though bright as day the sky would erupt with various stars as the canine would look as if it was chasing its own tail. She had grown quite dizzy with the display and soon enough the canis major had disappeared into the nightly sky. The world would be showered with shooting stars, moving across the world. Amphitrite had thought she had seen it all, a small smile pushed past her lips as she slowly moved to bow her head. The goddess knew another when she saw them, this indeed was a grand event. She had only hoped others were able to witness this display. With the excitement over she felt her eyes droop as she settled against the forest floor. Her eyes staring up to the heavens as she rested her chin against her paws. A soft yawn escaping the female’s maw before her eyes would close, enjoying the comfort of the falling stars.
