Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Long had the winds been quiet, forever drifting over the lands of their home. It was time for a new era, and the stage had already been set. Already they spawned, gathering in groups as far as the bitter north to the covered south. Their people. They lived and flourished over the past months and with hope they watched that they might continue to do so as the seasons change. Life would only get harder, as it was meant to be; Astra would do nothing but watch.

Their survival was in their own paws after all.

Though that did not mean that their love for those below would be nonexistent. No, these were their people, rather they saw the same or not mattered little. They had come to their domain, their home, and they were now theirs. Perhaps it was time for a show. There had been questions after all, but of course, they had not been able to answer. The starry being would wait and accompany the shadows of night that raked the mountains. As the final light began to fade, they would come.

Emerging from the stars, the great canine was revealed — though of course, they had always been there. Only now the dots in the sky were more than... well dots. Great limbs pawed through the night as their pelt shone briefly. They desired a closer look of those who now shared their home. To those below they would look as if the sky had shifted, their form appearing with the changes of the night as they moved from their spot in the sky.

Astra would smile as they passed, gaze looking to the groups that had formed and to the wanders who still were without a home. However, their presence was brief... one would need to look quickly, lest they risk missing them altogether. As unfortunate as it was, Astra could not linger. There was still so much to see, and the night was ever fleeting.
