Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

for @Sindri but fam is welcome to watch ♡

she could almost envy the claim of stormborn;
from the plunging cliffs and the surge and swell of seawater against the many maws of jagged juts to the foothills with pine and heather and cold earth wedged between every inch of it. the castaway family that woke up each morning in its needled arms, and stood right on top northfall's granite soul.

almost.

aėrith was as glad for ragnar's instruction as she was in the soreness of her body; fainter, now, and nestled in the pull of her muscles, but glad all the same; dredged up from all these previous days of remembering what it was to fear, and how to remaster it and your fury. it wouldn't have done either her or his sheildmaiden to have met fangs the moment they'd touched down on northfall soil. the nightingale was not so familiar with the land of their kept company, kith and kin; so she lets sindri lead her to wherever their meet would be had today.

"this is to be our deciding duel, then." her voice is bright and distant, like a shining faraway spire;
an answer to something that'd only been questioned once here.

Within the forest below there wasn't any snow on the ground during the summer, but the horrible heat which raged the south did not touch here. She stood at the far eastern edges of her new home, looking out to the dark waters of the coast out beyond. Whilst Ragnar moved further and further up the mountains to investigate their new home, Sindri's heart longed for the seaside. Here, they could hunt fish, sea lion, seals, mountain goats and sheep year round even if the carribu herds strayed, for the mountains and forest around was a sanctuary from the open tundra north of them. She knows her partner has chosen well.

A deep breath, the crisp cold air edged with salt. She turns to Aėrith with a pleasant smile and fire in her burning sun gaze. “It will.” She hoped that Aeri had refreshed her skills, that Ragnar taught her well. However, it also meant that he may have taught Aeri Sindri's own tricks. “Ragnar seemed quite satisfied.” And if their new friend did well, a new promising alliance they'd also hold.

[narrow width=800]"did he?the nightingale couldn't be too sure;
still. she'd taken his instruction as well as one so ... outdated with a skillset as hers could. she met the flame in the swiftkill's gilt gaze with her own; wherein the embers of something cold and piercing lurked at the edges. waiting. anticipating, even though either female hadn't fallen into bracing form yet. for that, they'd need to find a suitable clearing of some sort  —  and whether on the shores that sindri seemed to prefer, or in the reaches that ragnar was as fond as her of, she would not protest, or force one choice over the other. only follow, for now.

as for the sea ... she supposed she hadn't entirely forsaken the way it pulled at her heart, in some old, forgotten, cast out places.

she rose, nevertheless, and took to sindri's flank as she allowed her to chart their course. grinning suddenly, a bit demurely, with a familiar impish curl at her lips:
"in the event that i dishonor his study, you could always offer me to your salt god in the deep, of course. leave me to the gulls – all of that."[/narrow]

A small smirk lay there and the slender peachy shoulders of the young woman shrugged, to lay some doubt that Sindri's former words might not be true. Was Ragnar impressed? He seemed intrigued by the prospect of the ice queen wanting to establish herself along them as bounded ties. Ragnar wanted to make certain that the young new woman in their lives was worth the effort. Sindri wanted to make certain she was worth the effort too and could only hope too, secretly, that they would be worth her own if they were to become something for greater then just their few lot.

Sindri laughs now, as they move, shaking her crown as her vision sweeps from the coast out to her front and then to the woman taking her flank. “Oh I don't think that would be quite necessary.” A smirk, “Not that I do not think the Sea God would not approve of such a sacrifice.” Another small laugh and a tisk as she shakes her crown, turning round upon the dark, gritty beach of their home. Sindri knew the ice queen to be a swift woman, as herself. A women well navigated on ice and hard rock. But how was her footing under the shifting of sands and sting on sea spray? Soon to be tested.

“On your guard, Tindómisel.” She spoke as she turned round sharp, to face the woman before her and offer every ounce of defensive position.Sindri wondered now if any of her babes may show. If any, that @Ynness might find it thrilling to watch the display.

She didn't know the exact name of the newest member of their little group, or really what she looked like. She had smelled her scent faintly on her father and Sindri, but never spoken to her.

So to see her now on the shores of Northfall, facing against Sindri no less, deeply intrigued her. She walked over with her familiar and unavoidable hopping gait before plastering herself some distance from the two women, watching quietly and eagerly.
