Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

A short summons of @Remus, a royal guard to Elkshire, and the future tutor of her young. Though she knew the Queen would be the tutor when it came to eloquent of a blue blood, she could not provide the teachings of war, not like the gladiator, who proposed to do so. Now that there was a bundle of eight, she wandered if only by a few days, if the man could see any potential.

"Do you believe they will be strong?"

Remus eyed the young, scanning them over coldly, as if eyeing over an inanimate objects. Taking in their qualities Remus pondered their potential. One could only tell so much by a youthful form.

"Your highness, they appear strong but, not much can be said about the spark that each will develop as of yet."

Something more pressing was on his mind however. The state of the 'kingdom' was already in near ruin. There where few to actually protect its borders with the loss of Flynn and Meissa. Surely Celenes was delusional if she thought her young and her kingdom was safe from the hoards of nightwalkers.

Remus looked back over the pups. They where so calm and peaceful. If Celenes wasn't careful, she would end stripped of her crown and end up as @Vengance 's wench. It was apparent in the old dog's face, still stoic but, conflicted.

She wouldn't be able to deny there was a comfort from being close to an ally, and the thought that with blood between them, the fall of their alliance would be reduced. Yet some part of her tugged it all but a fantasy in the end, for the man known as the boogeyman was oh so familiar to herself; powerhungry. At the moment she lulled in the thought of the safety net, even if some were to betray her down the line.

Her paw pushed @Calhoun a bit in front, showing off his dazzling brown and orange pelt, speckled with 'wings' of sorts, "This one," Célnes started, "is named after my cousin, who looks exactly like him. My cousin was a strong, noble Deorwine hunter. Strong in faith and in soul. I would hope he takes after him."

But, she would shape him to her liking. This time, perhaps Calhoun would not be killed off.

Remus looked down at the pup. He momentarily glanced 'it' over before scooting the pup away with the back of his paw.  Knowing nothing about this cousin the 'queen' was speaking of.  What could Celenes know about nobility and strength of soul.  He almost pitied the poor pups, in their start to life they would have to work against an upbringing of dishonor, petty politics, and beliefs.

"Time will tell..."

Gazing momentary, he hoped they would turn out alright.

wrap?

She hid her disappointment of the man not commenting much, though if she knew his real thoughts, the Queen would be so displeased. However at the time she saw the man was respectable, even if he wasn't completely under her thumb, he would be the royal tutor. Yet, he made no comments on any of them whether they were up to it - she could forsee her firstborn Warwick, and her other son Calhoun, but the rest.. Were questionable to say the least.

She could smile at them below, as they squirmed and cried.
