Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Though not completely settled upon the fact of this new life, and new weight of sin she carried ; the Queen would have to adjust. Her ears had yet to settle upon their crying however, and while flat to the head a headache continued to crunch at the sound. Ringing and sounding, she wondered how other mothers dealth with so - but at the same time, she had eight.

Her focus wandered to @Calhoun, the son that resembled so closely to her cousin - now dead from her deeds. She still remembered that day, her brother and herself adjourning a crown upon their back, and attacking the man at the dead of night. A carpet of red, as they dragged poor cousin Calhoun away, only.. For retribution to hit, and the two fallen.

Only Célnes awoke, however.

She bent down to her child, a small whisper of, "Calhoun.."

Some part of her wondered, if it was pure coincidence, or..

A gaze of judgement swept to not only him, but Rohesia as well.

No thoughts would wander the boy's head as he rested peacefully aside from the stray kick. His siblings could cry, but it would make no difference. So newly born the pup was left to only a few senses while his eyes and ears remained sealed to the world. The fresh feeling of air on his ears, the short breezes that drifted into the den were but akin to ocean waves crashing on the shore heard from the depths of the sandy floor.

His mother called his name, though the word never truly reached his ears. It was a muffled noise, one that told him his mother was near. So, rousing from his light sleep he weakly lifted his head in response to the shifts and calls, before promptly falling over onto his side being the wiggly blob he was.

She wasn't sure why she expected some sort of reaction to come from it - like 'discovering' her cousin returned. Some part of her did miss him, as while he was a thorn to the side, he was loyal to the family, he was the most beloved. Some could say the Queen held a complex over him, for he received more love then she ever has, for all adored the male who devoted his life to the High Elk, compared to the female who shown only a little interest. She felt she did her just due, enough to satisfy ; but never compared to him.

It was frustrating to see someone she loved and loath return to her such a way, her own son that was like him in every other way, she couldn't see him with a name like any other. In 'honor,' so he was a 'Calhoun Junior,' by default.. Yet so innocent. Would he bare the same principles as her cousin did, or become her son, and be more at ease.

She would raise them right. Just as Rohesia had perished, just as Calhoun has, and now revived as her children, she would reform them rightly. Her tail curled tightly around her kids, despite some disgruntlement she kept them all close. Some part of her held contempt over this birth, and yet as a newly mother, Célnes held attention toward them. She became more warm to the thought of discipline, properly teaching them away from sin!

Praise be, the High Elk.

She watched her children lift and fall, innocent to the cruel world.

It was once said that he, the second-born son, would be a test to his mother. Some sick form of redemption, perhaps for both in the eyes of the High Elk. Though now as innocent as he was and clueless to the internal drama that wracked his mother, maybe this test would be too cruel.

He had no memories of a life passed, but instead the curious mind of a child. One all too malleable to the wretched influences that sought to corrupt and twist him to her own gain. This time would be different. Be that vastly or not, Celnes had created her perfect monsters. Ones she could shape the minds of to where none would doubt her rule.

So, while Celnes plotted with fleeting fears, the elken boy would settle down once more, wrestling between his siblings to find comfort again amongst the bodies and milk where he could suckle himself to empty dreams.
