A cool midnight summer breeze swept through the lilac fields of flowers. The weather made it all the more jarring what happened next. As if from nowhere, lightning struck the tallest tree the woodland had. The tree burst ablaze, but the fire never spread further than its roots. Throughout the night, the tree burned to the ground - slowly but surely, until in the morning there was nothing left but a pile of ash.
But that wasn't the only unusual thing about this weather phenomenon, if one could call it that. From that pile of ash pushed the head of a girl. The girl was fast asleep, the rising and falling of her chest the only indicator that she was alive. This movement shifted the ash that covered her, head to toe, enough to disturb her. Her eyelashes, too, were covered and she had to blink a few times to see clearly. Honeycomb eyes looked upon the many butterflies that drunk from the coldly colored flowers, then to the ash that surrounded her. What had happened? Where was she?
