Welcome to Canis Major
a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)
Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.
Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:
- There is no set activity requirement to write
- The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
- The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

He awakes amongst a field of blooms foreign to his nose. Ambrose is used to the frigid north and this is something else altogether. He does not have much time to process what is happening before a slight pressure at his hind-end startles him, prompting a swift jerk forward and swivel.
Another man. Reaching .. for his tail? His ass? “Well, I—” he starts, clearly disheveled by the scene playing out. This was new. Ambrose stalls in place, indecisive on how to greet someone that clearly already had plans for him.
“That's not yours.” He huffed a bit, trying to remain calm and just take things as they went, knowing fully well he still had no idea how he had gotten here. A dream, then?
“And not a very good start there, friend. I'm not that easy.”
