Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

The feeling of sleep pulled at her eyelids, made docile her fiery nature. Enough so that the scattering of little creatures past her paws did not insight the usual wrath it would have, though she knew in her heart she was still plenty capable- just unwilling. The woman's feline figure slunk upon the earth as it writhed with attempts to awake, yet the feeling like she were still half asleep did not shake. A yawn breached her maw to reveal her long fangs and scratchy tongue, like poised daggers ready for any sudden movement.

She roused, stumbly and not as usual- unsure and unsteady on paws that were always securely and confidently planted. The world her ice-colored eyes landed on wasn't anything she was familiar to. Where the mountain's quiet and snowy solitude typically greeted her, this day her eyes met bright colors in flora and fauna. Birds of immaculate, amazing color and flowers that replicated. The lights of glowing beetles hung over the ground like beckoning lights, a cautious curiosity drove the cat's nose towards them.

They led the feline to the water, where she watched in awe as large leaves floated out and away with the river. She dared not step on one herself, a hesitant fear wondering if it would collapse under her. Yet this was a dream, most surely, wasn't it?

The cat stared back and forth trying to make sense of it all, wonder and awe in her expression.
