Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

It was not uncommon to have pretty dreams. Promises and wants, the things that darkened her doorstep. @Freyr was usually there, more so after news broke...Rinako never knew if it was cruel or kind to see his face. It was untouched by their burdens, a still image exactly as she remembered him. And perhaps, it was just her mind bringing desires she could no longer claim, but the spirits still spoke, and for some time she believed it to be real. To be him. That he was still here.

The kami could be kind. Those images danced behind her lids each time she brought herself to rest. His soul carried in their children, even as they grew with each passing day. And then he was real again, alongside Airi. None of it should have been possible, but who was she to question when balance was righted in her world? It was not her place to say if she was deserving or not, nor would she question a gift.

She hadn't dreamed of him since. However, this, she was certain, was a dream. The edges of her mind crept with a fuzzy white, almost as if she was spectating her own life yet through her own eyes. This was not Kaida either. Rolling hills of wildflowers sprawled out in either direction, the clear blue of a river cutting through the center with a lazy current. It was beautiful.
