Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

^^Valeska had pointed Dahlia in the direction she had wanted to go; speaking of a Pack that was not unkind and suggesting she could ask them if they had seen her family. It was still strange, to think now she had a family -- whereas before, her family had been dead or gone. Dahlia was a mother so young and in the peak of her adventurous, recklessness and yet she was attempting to navigate it in a foreign land where none of the wolves she knew seemed to be. It did not strike her with fear; the emotion being something that she rarely felt. Before she had become a mother, Dahlia had never felt it. Now, though, it filled her on the rare ocassion. She had never needed to fear for her offspring, they had Osiris and they had her, even if she was likely the most reckless creature they would ever meet.

It wasn't fear that gripped the little firecracker now, either. It was moreso impatience, she supposed, at wanting to find Osiris and their children and continue to venture through the world. She would be lying if she didn't think briefly on the opportunity that she had been given. Dahlia had always been a free spirit, at home with never being home -- even if she would always find her way back -- and always going over the line of sanity. Dying and waking up? It was almost like the world was saying here! here, you can start again and just fuck around again without any responsibility! She would be lying if it wasn't tempting, to shirk the responsibility and say fuck it, but Spice was in her head in the back, telling her that despite all of the reckless bones in her body, Dahlia was not disloyal.

Osiris and their children were her family and though they had shaken the very foundations she had erected, she was not going to abandon them. She missed Osiris, this she knew and though they had never attached a label to them -- she knew she missed him in a way she hadn't really missed anyone before. Dahlia groaned dramatically as stretched out her back, rump in the air and tail flying high above. If these wolves did not have any answers to her questions, Dolly was uncertain of what she would do from there. Should she spend the rest of her life seeking out wolves who may not have found their way to the Other like she had? Or should she move on?

Or try to move, she supposed she should say. Unlikely was she to forget the children she had borne. Still, if she had little options, Dahlia couldn't just go where the wind took her -- the decisions not as easy as her previous. The red-coated woman bounded forward as she barked, not quite encroaching on the scents that told her of the Pack borders but close enough that her voice could -- should -- carry. Restlessly she pawed the Earth, the itch to adventure and roam strong as she rooted herself to the spot.

She had to find out.

Perhaps the first, that didn't measly wander into the territory, but rather let out a resounding bark, that echoed to the mountains. There was an an exhausted sigh, one of gratitude that finally someone didn't cross the fucking borders. How many wolves had bounded through, caring little to the marks they have? Seven? A handful at least, and each time it grew more irritable, and she growing more aggressive. At time point Orlaith was bound to attack, giving a warning to any around that they do not deal with lightly.. Though she refrained - maybe in the hope the other would join, but the madness that the guard held toward the trespasser never went beyond, and the attempt to recruit fell short, and forgotten.

"This is Vanderfell territory, ya called missy?" The other red in coat, vaguely reminding her but of a child that Orlaith met..
