A BWP is officially active!
Buckle up, and let me explain. For those of you unfamiliar with the term, BWP or Board Wide Plots, they are events that affect the entirety of Canis run for prolonged periods of time at staff discretion. The goal is to shake characters from their typical day-to-day routine with something that will produce urgency, survival needs, collaboration, and or facing fate. As players, you have the chance to earn engagement points for special rewards. Depending on the BWP effect in place, there may be phases introduced by staff to keep the BWP engaging and offer something new to react to until its conclusion. By default, all areas in the game will experience some type of effect from the chosen event, but for those of you who would like to abstain from the BWP, you are allowed to have your character face lighter circumstances.
It is important to note if the groups you belong to have opted in or out of the event! Due to the shared lifestyle and experiences of characters in groups, it will be the group leader's decision as to whether or not the group will experience the BWP in full for the sake of story continuity. If a group is opted in, all characters will experience the consequences personally or witness the effects as they spread around them. If a group ops out, please respect the leader's decision and play with lighter circumstances inside your group's claim. You may still travel beyond your claim to fully experience the BWP.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding abstaining and what your characters are experiencing, please reach out to staff!
This BWP will have phases!
At the activation of the next phase, all previous phase(s) will cease unless the current phase adds to an existing effect.
Phase 1 — Active
Torrential downpours have begun. Water sources are swelling, the ground is slippery, bogged, or otherwise waterlogged. The clouds look to have no plans of stopping.
Phase 2
TBA
Phase 3
TBA
Phase 4
TBA
Threads must include at least two different players to qualify. To submit your thread for points, please link it below, and staff will mark posts that have earned points and update the meter — similar to earning skills. Staff will also edit your post with a staff note to let other staff know your thread has been checked. If you include notes about what engagement points you are aiming for, that also helps the staff vetting!
The following awards are BWP related, but there may be general awards that can still be earned:
And trust us, you want this one.
A stretch goal will be introduced if the meter is filled before the end of the BWP.

Ex. Mass flooding is occurring in the game. You are allowed to avoid the floods and their damage, but your character will still experience prolonged rainstorms. It seems you were lucky, but you can only wish it would stop raining.

Tasks, Challenges, & Engagement Opportunities
The following list may aid with thread ideas and offer ways to earn community engagement. When creating threads for the BWP, please be sure to tag it with the "World Event" tag on every post you intend to earn engagement on! Players can individually earn up to 5 engagement points per thread and only one type of engagement per post. Staff will look for the engagement that earns you the most points, but it may be helpful to note what you are aiming for when you submit. There is no overall cap, meaning everyone participating in the thread can submit their own points.Staff tip: Group activity, be it packs or loners working together, may be a good way to make a big impact on the meter!

- Refreshen borders — Scents are washing away at a rapid pace, and claims must be upkept — 1 point per related post
- Waterlogged hunting — The ground is muddy, boggy, or otherwise unstable. Good luck catching tricky prey. Maybe try your paws at fishing if you want to brave the water. — 1 point per related post
- Flu — With the constant rain, flu is spreading quickly. Perhaps you are one of the unlucky ones, or maybe you have the means to aid those who are unfortunate. — Catching flu one time cash in of 5 points / Treating colds 1 point per related post
- Drenched State — Try your best to warm up and dry off another character. Bedding may become soaked and need to be replaced, or tough it out until dry bedding can be achieved. Healers? Good luck drying those herbs. — 1 point per related post
- Landslides — Encounter a landslide and try to make it out alive. Groups may have to relocate if the territory is unstable. — 2 points per related post
- Flash flooding — Encounter a flash flood and try to make it out alive. Groups may have to relocate if the territory is unstable. — 2 points per related post
- Stuck in the mud — However it happened, it seems you are now stuck in a mud patch. Call for help and hope someone arrives...and that they don't get stuck trying to rescue you. Oh, and keep an eye out for any floods or predators while you're trapped. That would just be inconvenient, wouldn't it? — 1 point per related post
- Predator encounters — Did you think you were the only ones suffering? Don't forget there are a lot of things out there scarier than a wolf, and now they're displaced too. Encounter a predator looking for an easy meal (you) or trying to steal — 2 points per related post
- Did you ask God? — Might be a good time to check in with whatever gods you pray to. Looking for signs, hope, answers, or other forms of divinity from this catastrophe might not solve your problems, but it will get you some points! — 1 point per related post
- Be a pillar in the community — There are bound to be those who have seen something horrible or experienced it firsthand. Help them through the horrors and offer some emotional support, wisdom, or guidance for those sweet, sweet engagement points — 1 point per related post
- Assess the storm — Perhaps you can help discern when the storm will clear, what dangers are building, or what path the storm is taking. These vital clues can help your group or yourself avoid major danger if you know when to act — 1 point per related post
- Check on others — Got friends in other places? Might be a good time to check on them and see if they need anything. Now is the time to stick and work together. — 1 point per related post
- Bury a friend — You witnessed or found someone who died. Regardless of your relationship, it may be worth it to give them a final resting place...even if the ground is wet, wet mud. — 3 points per related post
- Die — You died. That's pretty unlucky. — 5 points per death
