Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

It had been a few days since Caine had awoken in this strange new place. His memories of his past had mostly faded, all except for one choice recollection- one he wished, albeit begged, for his mind to let go of. The scent of his brother’s iron still hung heavy in his nose, as if it had buried itself into his olfactory senses. And the crack of bones echoed eternally in his ears. Guilt has begun to eat away at him. Perhaps that’s why he was here… To answer for such treasons.

Or maybe it was some random chance. Or the after life. Frankly, Caine didn’t give much of a damn. He was here now, and that’s all that mattered. And this world was not like the one he had came from. And the forest he was in now was a perfect example of how strange this place was.

He was no stranger to bioluminescence, however, to see it so beautifully painted on the foliage and vines of the trees gave the dark brute a pause. He took in a slow, deep breath, the scent ringing in some semblance of familiarity. Plants were still… plants. He grumbled a little under his breath, giving his pelt a small shake as his paws treaded lightly through the shallow creek.

The roar of water echoed through the earth that surrounded him on either side. Bright eyes flickered from his feet and forward, landing solidly on a glowing waterfall before him. He stops in his tracks, a soft gasp escaping his lips, and his ears flying forward.

He stands in utter awe of the scenery, unaware of anyone else who could potentially be in his presence.
