Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Iron was what she tasted at the back of her throat since she'd been a child- and it had been a friend, really. It was her friend more than every other for iron was a blade, and a blade was what she was made to be. She was more weapon than woman- better for her. Who would ever want to be something fleshy and weak and soft?

Years and years and years formed on a spindle, and she with it. From knife to dagger, from dagger to sword. And so soon the taste of copper lay at the back of her throat with iron, but rather than a friend, it was a result. A reminder of what she was capable of stirring in the rcesses of her soul.

She was never meant for weak things.

Unsurprising, then, that she had died with a mass of other bodies around her.

More surprising when she woke up.

Aneketos's eyes snapped open to the brilliance of a crimson dawn. Red and orange hues washed her pale fur in similar shades, bouncing back into her eyes from the glare of the snow. She squinted for a moment in thought. Fur? When she looked down, paws were in her direct vision. It could have been no other than her own. Her brows furrowed. Her fangs clacked together.

How strange. Yet despite the oddness of her situation, she couldn't exactly wait around for too long... The longer she stayed idle, the likelier the chance an assailant would come upon her. And so Aniketos stood, legs shaky as if she were a newborn foal. Attempting to step for the first few minutes were difficult, but yes, she managed.

Now, to locate her sword.
