Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Their first batch of children had grown. Not yet young adults but she watched the way they all sought independence in plenty of ways already. Her heart was not ready for when one of them might ask to go behind the Saltwoods.

She thought high enough of herself and her wife that she hoped they might not ever ask such a thing.

Yet Almalexia worried her the most. She had seen the way the girl stared out at the island beyond and how she had even tried to steal away once or twice. Surely it all had to be a part of growing. Wake had snuck away a number of times but...her life had been so different at that age.

She prowled her way through a morning mist to find her beloved @Esmerelda — a thoughtful look upon Wake's face likely already spelled out what she had come for.

Where Wake worried, Esmerelda did not. There was a certainty that brewed within her, one that came easily, and soothed any anxieties that attempted to rise from her belly into her chest. It could be said that Esmerelda was not predispositioned to carry worries or anxieties, but having children could change anyone; it had absolutely changed her, but it had not pushed her towards the side of caution. Rather, motherhood had eased her to a place of faith and warmth. Now, more than ever, the Siren held the Mother Sea in high regards.

A sound behind her drew the attention of an ear, rotating back only for her head to follow. A smile, warm as a candle's flame, spread across that silk-grey mouth, periwinkle eyes glittering in the soft morning light. The look upon her sailor's face lit that same candle-fire in her belly, and her tail twitched in responsive anticipation. It had been a while, so there was a possibility that she was reading things incorrectly, but Esmerelda did not think she was. Still...

Meu amor. Her voice was quiet, yet vibrant against the sound of the shore and its waves. A beautiful morning, no?
