Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

@Stjörnuáti sibling thread <3

The woman had awakened some time ago; the layer of snow on her body was evidence of her time in the snow. The cold had not yet settled in her bones when she finally opened her eyes to the fading sunlight. The warmth of the light began to melt the thick layer around her neck, allowing Freyja to lift her head from the ground. Her vision was still slightly blurred due to the ice built up on her thick lashes. Freyja could not make out much of her location, other than a few trees and rocks.

Freyja shifted onto her stomach and began to stretch out her frozen limbs. Despite being of the north, the woman hated how the cold was quick to freeze. It made her limbs ache and her skin prickle. She craved the warmth of her bed, of the furs that kept the cold at bay. She just had to get out of this place. Freyja finally rose from her resting place and did a quick shake of her fur, sending the snow falling in various places. She extended her limbs in a languid stretch, hoping to send sensation back to her paws.

Once sensation returned to her paws, Freyja took some steps towards the thicket before her. "Hello? Stjör?" Freyja called softly, her voice hoarse after being unused for some time. While the woman was usually a poised noblewoman, tears began to well in her eyes. She didn't want to be alone. Not here. Not in this place. It felt like home, but it wasn't. Where was their family? Their friends? It felt so empty.

A scent and voice he knew, but not one that of the mountain. It was not any of the wolves that lived in his recent memory, but it still took him no time at all to recognize the dulcet tones of his name upon her tongue. Stjörnuáti was quick to drop everything he was doing just then to run to her, nearly running right into her as he skid to a halt in the snow.

Freyja? His own voice held so much disbelief. After all this time, she appeared upon Morðfjall's foothills, and he could scarcely believe it. Would his whole family slowly start to come together once more?

The girl could not believe the sight before her. The golden man stood like a god among the clouds, a light she had longed to find in the darkness. Freyja knew her devoutness would bring great fortune to not only her, but to her siblings.

"Oh, Stjör." Freyja cried as she ran to the tall man. The Gods had reunited them, and Freyja could only hope that the rest of their family was also here. "The Gods have reunited us, my dear brother." The girl buried her face in the thick fur on his neck, breathing in the familiar wildness of her brother. Freyja feared she'd be alone in these strange lands, left without the security and love of her siblings.

"Bróðir, hafa systkini okkar komið hingað líka?" The silver-hued girl asked softly, rounded lavender eyes searching his for an answer. Would the Gods smile upon the rest of their family as they had on them? Or would they punish them to a life of separation? Tearing apart a family as tightknit as the Stormskýli. While cruel, the girl knew how the Gods enjoyed tormenting their worshippers.

Small and petite, his sister had and always would be a misty vision pf a woman. She was delicate, softer than the fireborne Valmúa. Sweeter. Valmúa had never been nice, though. Not traditionally. It occured to him then, too, that they all looked different, wearing different colors than the next.

He did not move as she tucked herself into his chest, his head dropping to inhale her sweet and fresh scent. Freyja was not yet bathed in the smells of this land so it was easily discernable -- to him at least -- that she had just awoken here.

Já, en við erum dreifð. @Rökkvi er kominn. @Solpallur og @Valmúa eru á einhverri leið sem guðirnir hafa sett. Stepping back, Stjörnuáti let those maroon eyes survey her, checking to make sure that she was alright despite the jarring experience that was waking up in a foreign land.

"Ég bið bara að þeir verði verndaðir af Óðni." Freyja murmured in response to her brother's words. She was heartbroken that they had parted, but she was glad to have some brothers with them. They would never be alone again.
