Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

This one... was difficult. Saga was an unfortunate participant whos only matches were individuals she could have easily been their mother. Hopefully she didn't mind the youth, and pairing her with someone who hopefully didn't mind someone much older than them was in the cards.

Thankfully, Hawkes seemed like a potential partner. Even if they wouldn't be romantically compatible at the end of the night, perhaps they could be compatible companions and have a nice conversation or even go further as friends or whatever they desired after today! They were both good conversationalists, and so Reiko was as confident as she could be with this.

Not wanting to make Saga walk too far with her age and possible sore joints, she had set them up in Shiroshika's garden. Avoiding the glacier within, she gave them a nice little spot surrounded by flowers and herbs - a spot that Reiko enjoyed visiting herself regularly. Leaving them their own morsel of food, a rabbit each - she hoped this would work out for them and wouldn't leave tonight insulted by her choice of partner.

This was such a curious development. A dating service, the Empress had called it. In truth, Saga wasn't all too sure what a date was; based off of earlier context clues displayed by the pale foreign woman, she had the sense that it was an event in which one party attempted to woo the other.

What was odd to her was why the attempt at mating was confined to such events. Why not show such desire and affection every day? The thought of anything other that was so silly to the charcoal cloaked dame.

Their journey to the garden was short, something Saga wished was a bit more lengthy, if only to explore and examine more of this terrain and the lands surrounding it.

A young man waited for her there. With her on the approach, it gave the woman time to appraise him, his physique, his aura, his presence. How interesting a pairing the Empress had chosen here.

Halló, She greeted him, posture amicable, the glint in her eye curious. What sort of being was before her? And where would this all lead to?

Hawkes wasn’t really sure what to expect out of this. Dating, courting, mating were all things he wasn’t quite sure how to do, so he doubted anything legitimately romantic would come from this. Which was fine, really, because that wasn’t his intention regardless. He’d come here for a good meal, maybe a good conversation, and if he were particularly lucky, a good fuck.

Not that he was really expecting the last one, but hey. It’d been quite the dry spell for him, and Hawkes couldn’t help but hope for it a little.

He has gotten there a bit before his date did, it seemed. Loitered about a little, pointedly ignoring the rabbits so that he didn’t devour his before the other wolf even had a chance to arrive.

It didn’t take her too long to get there, and Hawkes’ ears pricked a little as he appraised her. Taller than him, with a multicolored pelt and fine, pretty features. And, as she approached, it became apparent how much older she was.

Not that Hawkes minded. It didn’t take away from the fact that she was pretty, and he’d be more likely to get a good conversation from her than someone with less life experience.

“Hello, there,” he greeted, yellow eyes crinkling a bit in a smile. “Th’ little queen didn’t tell m’ I’d be on a date with someone so lovely. Yer makin’ me nervous.” He wasn’t nervous - not really, - but he couldn’t help but flatter the woman a little. Wasn’t a date supposed to be charming, after all? “Name’s Hawkes, miss. And yourself?”
