Hawkes had a knack for finding strange forests, it seemed, but this one was far more unsettling than the last. He was far from a believer in the supernatural, but there was something about this red forest that had his fur standing on end. Leaves shouldn’t be this vibrant in the winter, and especially not when the sky was overcast and gray.
He was almost regretting setting foot in the damn place to begin with. It was too bright, too quiet, and yet, Hawkes felt like he wasn’t quite alone in this place.
A rustling of leaves to his left had him spinning around, yellow eyes narrowed into chips. “Who’s there?” he asked, trying to keep his fur from bristling and his voice level. Because he wasn’t scared! Of course not. He was just… being cautious.
