Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

He'd prowled the lowlands through the night, tracking the movement if caribou as they picked their way North in search of better grazing. His gaze was sharp on their tails as he trailed, maintaining a distance as to keep himself from being detected, and when at last they had uncovered frozen grass from a fresh deposit of snow did he veer away to return to his keep.

Much time had passed since his reunion with Stjörnuáti, and still it was only the two who remained. Neither Solpallur or Valmua had returned to complete their quartet, and Rökkvi had made peace with their absence. He'd lived quietly and dutifully, guarding and hunting and scouting as necessary, and his rogue siblings no longer crossed his mind as often as they once did.

The show had to go on, after all.

The ironborn ascended his mountain home, seeking @Stjörnuáti to share knowledge of the herd's location so they might consider a hunt in the near future.

Rokkvi had been somewhat distant over the months, and in this, the cream and gold Viking did not begrudge him. They both had their own way of handling things, and while their kin were missed, the days and nights did not stop turning, did not stop passing. He knew neither of them would sit idle while their sorrows drowned them. It was not how they operated. Stjörnuáti had all but thrown himself into the life of being the mountain's Jarl, often tending borders and meeting outsiders there. Some were accepted, some were turned away, but none had slipped through defenses.

His head lifted from his occupation in tending the caches that had been abandoned by Åshe and Jorthund both. Where the old soul had gone off to, Stjörnuáti did not know, and he was new enough that the Viking would not waste time, energy, or breath on finding him. Åshe, having been whisked away to the Kingdom of Northfall, was also gone; the whole pack was no where to be found. Another mystery of this world, he supposed.

“Brother,” He would say in greeting, stepping away from the cache to turn to his darker shaded littermate. “Glad to see you come out of your hibernation.” He jested with the smallest smile; he knew that Rökkvi hadn't been holed up all this time, but it had been some weeks since he had come in search of the stareater.
