It fucking burned. Wrenley's body was ablaze with smoldering flames, each nerve on her body ignited by lightning and needles. And her breath choked on something hot and black. She tried to scream, but her lungs had been scorched. The agony was unbearable. The taste of iron, strong and bitter, was on her tongue. It reeked of rot.
And then suddenly, it was gone, but there was a weight on her back. Heavy like soil. Had she been buried alive? And suddenly, her lungs were filling with dirt and muck. Consciousness and life found her limbs and they too were crushed beneath some suffocating weight. Wrenley scrambled, her feet clawed against the walls of her tomb and she climbed herself towards the light. Panic began to settle. She couldn't breathe.
Like a zombie breaching her grave, the lady of thorns and blades was unearthed. She broke the surface of loose soil with her crown and her talons found the earth.
