Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

The assassin found himself standing beneath the swollen moon, its light outlining him within a sea of ink.

How long had it been?

Hazy memories stuck to his prefrontal cortex in an attempt to steer him towards unrequited heartache—now more than ever it seemed; In the coming days they had emerged like ghosts with gripping hands and icy temps, intent on watching him drown in the scream of his twin and viscous blood that filled his nose—Too stubborn to be shaken away by his fortified walls built upon the corpse of his past.

But even that was crumbling.

Months? Years? Eons? Time was but an illusion serving no purpose other than to confuse him.  The screaming within his mind was too vivid to differentiate between a recent event or history.

@Alune; stiff, cold; Dead. Her mouth twisted open in an inaudible scream while glassy eyes looked past the plane of existence. A gash scored across the apex of her throat that leaked heavily into a pool with outstretches of splattering reaching towards his toes.

She was dead.

He failed.

A fire crackled beneath Aphelios’s sternum, it’s presence threatening to break his ribs with the slightest movement. He held his breath in earnest, hoping it would be enough, his eyes scrunched and frame shaking as he fought off the urge to inhale—to breathe life into the nightmare he was reliving. If he didn’t breathe, it would surely go away. He couldn’t get more upset if there was no room to.

Paws had dug into the dirt below. His frame hunkered and tail puffed as he enveloped himself downward into a hunched form. There was nothing to grip but he desperately tried; his muscles aching as he pushed downward into the earth to find some sort of security. But even that was futile; All that resulted was his limbs spasming, his paws splaying outward from the output of energy.

And then he couldn’t take it.

He breathed; His lungs stuttering desperately at their grasp of oxygen before pouring into a few hoarse coughs. It was the only peace he got before sobbing uncontrollably. His tears running down that soft face of his in addendum to snot and heaving chest.

He failed.
