After his morning routine, Hieronymous took a second to bathe in the sun. It didn't do much for him, but he felt it was good practice to do. Others would declare that it felt good and so if it did, it must be good for them too. It didn't take long for him to feel a little sleepy, relaxed... listening to the autumn birds chirp their last songs before they hid for the winter, the rustling of drying leaves in their branches before falling to the ground to shelter insects over winter.
It was a different sound that roused him from his sleep. Something unusual than the normal goings on. It wasn't the laughter of children playing, nor the subtle sound of feet against the ground of someone walking by. Curious he rose, shaking himself off quickly all the while not stopping his movement forward.
Something was wrong.
He could feel it.
What could it be? What could cause such dread to loom over him so suddenly? The High King who was all laughs and jokes on most days treaded forward cautiously, but with haste. Not wanting to miss a thing while heading toward the disturbance, but also not wanting to put himself in unneeded jeopardy.
