It was his second snow. At least by logical thinking it was - but he couldn't remember the first. Those memories were vague, hazy at best and mostly of him alone while his siblings were watched and loved by their heathen of a mom. Aldritch never got the chance to play in the snow or just be a child it seemed - he realized that now, a year and some too late.
He stood for a moment and observed the snow as it fell all around. Like a dream where the Elk grazed on the remaining grasses. He wondered if they would leave for greener pastures. If he should go with them, as he had done in the past. A sway of his tail, a single movement as he pondered... the plume curling lightly around a hip.
He had no reason to leave this time other than by habit. After all, he had promised to assist Calhoun with their new family... it wouldn't be right. “Hmm.” But it also wouldn't be right to stop following the herd either. They would be fine without him, but would he be without Them? The only family he had for the majority of his life and to think he could let them walk out of their woods made his heart feel heavy.
It didn't help that @Eloise
Perhaps this was the end of their paths together. Certainly this was His plan after all. Bring the children back together and bring pride to what they had lost. Beyond that, now that he was home, he had filled out a bit more. Gained some weight despite still being on the leaner side. THings were good.
But he would still miss the Herd terribly. That was for certain.
