This is an interest check for the Carnival, a circus-themed pack! A somewhat unusual pack, these wolves choose to make their living by performing shows for other packs in exchange for food and other goods. Whether it’s acting in a play, doing acrobatics, singing, dancing, magic tricks, or telling fortunes—artists and entertainers of all sorts are welcome to join the travelling Carnival.

Species: All sorts of creatures are welcome to join the Carnival! Nemo discourages the eating of fellow pack mates, though be aware that a prey animal living among wolves might be…risky.

Ranks: Besides the Ringleader, there are no true ranks to start. Informal standing is determined by your skill and experience, and how much you can charm your fellows. Members of the Carnival instead identify themselves by their chosen profession. For now, Nemo will be the Ringleader. Other ‘official’ positions, such as assistants or directors, may be appointed or voted on later.

 The Ringleader — Gender-neutral. The Ringleader is the official leader of the Carnival, and they decide where the circus should perform next. They can be considered the overall artistic director or manager for now.
 Performer — Everyone else who has an act to perform.
 Apprentices — Younger characters, or those who don’t have any particular skills. They are expected to assist performers with their acts, and develop their own skills in the process.

Morals: Since some acts depend on trickery or illusion, morals are a bit loose. Being actively cruel or nasty to others is likely to get you kicked out, though. All members of the circus are expected to at least try and behave themselves on packlands; Nemo doesn’t want anyone coming back for vengeance.

Joining: Characters join the Carnival by tagging along with the circus, or if the Ringleader specifically recruits them for their skills. Nemo rarely says ‘yes’ or ‘no’ directly. As such, if you’re following the group around, you’re pretty much considered a member. You have to demonstrate your skills to be considered an official performer; if you can’t, you can still be accepted as long as you’re willing to help out and learn. The loose nature of this pack means that characters do not have to stay once they’ve joined. If they decide to retire from performing, or want to settle down somewhere else—that’s their choice!

How it starts: Rather than adopts, my hope is that players can involve existing characters into this by choosing to join up with Nemo and the others IC. Nemo has an eye for talent and if he sees your character doing something exceptional—singing, dancing, etc—he will stop and say something about it! He will suggest that he and your character work together. Once a few characters have also joined up, they can also accept new members to the pack.

Home base: While this pack will spend most of their time on the move, they probably will need to have a home camp to return to at times. I would like to suggest Moving Garden for this purpose—especially considering the Garden already moves around on its own. Alternatively, I can pick a different location or submit a new one!
