Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

An execution. A lifeless body. A carelessly dug grave, one not suited for a prince. It had been the end.

Or maybe not...

One breath.

Two.

Three.

Limbs curling; moving, struggling to find purchase.

A gasp of air, then a disgusting cough.

Eyes opening, painfully slow. One shrouded of clear vision. One pure and gleaming.

Dust surrounded him, choking him. Each rise and fall of his chest was more painful than the last. Was this air unbreathable?!

The sound of waves crashing from behind him made him jolt. He realized it then... he was wet. Had he washed in from the ocean? Is that why is lungs hurt so damn bad?

Ungracefully clawing his way to a stand, the prince takes in unfamiliar land around him. It is barren. A wasteland. But not entirely useless. In the distance, stone and rock lay upon the ground, crumbled.

Body swaying, he took one step after another, struggling to focus and move in a straight line.

Memories returned, battling one another in his mind and dragging him away from reality. Or could it even be called that? Was this all even real anyway?

It had to be! There was no other way to explain his aches. And besides, he felt alive. More so than he ever had. Was this it? His redemption. His chance to find true vengeance for what transpired. But how could he? There was no way of returning home. And even if it was an option, he wasn't nearly in the right state of mind.

Ahead he would have to forge. Rest. Recoup. Heal.

Soon, all would be clear.

His goddess would make it so.
