Mapenzi, a realm of unparalleled beauty and tranquility, is a lush and verdant territory within the vast African savanna. The name itself, meaning "romantic love" in Swahili, perfectly encapsulates the essence of this enchanting land. Here, the landscape is a harmonious blend of rolling green hills, vibrant wildflowers, and towering acacia trees that stretch toward the azure sky. The air is filled with the melodic symphony of birdsong and the gentle rustle of leaves, creating a serene and idyllic atmosphere.

Adding to the magical allure of Mapenzi is a mystical waterway, where the river's current gently guides leaves along its path. These leaves, large and sturdy, serve as natural boats, gliding effortlessly over the shimmering surface. The journey down this waterway is a captivating experience, as the surroundings seem to come alive with an ethereal glow. The soft light of fireflies illuminates the way, and the gentle breeze carries the sweet scent of blooming flowers. This enchanting ride through Mapenzi's heart is a reminder of the wonder and magic that love can bring. Introducing our new annual Valentine's Day event!

Welcome to Mapenzi, an isolated island seemingly separated and untravelable from the main lands of canis, yet somehow it is still canis. This is an opt-in event, meaning if you would like to not participate, continue writing as normal!

For everyone else, love is in the air, or maybe love is just a dream? Mapenzi is accessible each time your character goes to sleep. The island spans the full length of a normal territory, meaning there is much to explore and discover with about a day's worth of traveling to go from one side of the island to the other.

If your soul mate lived across the world, now they'll be within a day's reach for a limited time only! Will you find your true love? A quick fling? Were the wolves you met here even real? If they were, will you ever find them again? Only time will tell! Mapenzi will be accessible until March 14th, where it will then be unreachable until next year.

How to participate

If you would like to join this event, all you have to do is create or join threads in our new Event section, then use the thread subject Mapenzi! Remember, your character is not actually physically traveling to this location, so ignore the map indicator that shows a claim beyond the map border. Your character was not thrown across the world.

This sub-forum will be available for the length of the event, closing the ability to create new threads at the event cutoff date. The board will then remain until all threads have been finished or archived.

Things to note

• What happens in the dream stays in the dream, except for physical changes. This means you will not be able to take anything to or from Mapenzi, but everything that occurs there will carry back to your character's reality. Meaning...this is not a magic condom. Sleep responsibly.
  
• Mapenzi is isolated. You will not be able to see any land beyond the reaches of the island while traveling here.
  
• Like all magical locations, Mapenzi is unclaimable. We suggest no bloodshed, but hey, we can't stop you. Love isn't always pretty. Please be on top of content warnings if the thread turns mature or violent!
  
• Your character does not physically move while they are asleep. To any character not participating, they will look like any other sleeping animal. Those who have been to Mapenzi may believe your character's tales, but to everyone else, you'll be a raving loon going on about some weirdly real-feeling dream.
  
• Despite feeling like a dream, your character still does not have any special abilities. Sorry, but no flying cupid wolves. The giant leaf boats are all you will be floating on.
  
• You may earn skill points through the event!
