Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

This was going to take some getting use to. Since leaving the self-proclaimed Prince, Dagda felt as though he'd done nothing more than wander. No two places were the same, nor did he find anywhere he would wish to settle. He wasn't quite sure the direction he was going to take, or what the best decision would be for him going forward, but he was certain that in time perhaps he would find it within himself to settle. Today was not that day. The cool air pressed against his face as he continued onward, not stopping until he approached a vast landscape. His dark lips pulled into a subtle frown as he slowed his gait, his yellow gaze scanning the surrounding area for anything, anyone.

It seemed today would grace him with something other than a landscape of loneliness at least. There was a figure settled a little further down, light in contrast against the vast sea of green. He was hesitant to approach, lucky with his first encounter, but he was not so sure all were as tamed.

What did he have to lose though, really?

Dagda moved onward, though he was careful to give his new company space as he approached, his voice cutting through the silence of the air with greeting. “Excuse my interruption,” he inhaled a slow breath, the cold air filling his lungs. “I am just passing through,” he didn't smell any indication that this place may have been ruled by a pack, but he wasn't so sure of many things as of late.
