Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Images burned into his memory.  Viktor can feel them, touch them, taste them.  They stick in his teeth and in his mind.  They're so real, at least for these last few moments.  The mainsail.  The bow.  The faces of his crew, battered and bloody, bodies falling all around.  Viktor can taste the gunpowder, feel the grime and salt coating his skin.  Everything is real, and then none of it is.  Searing pain filling his system, overloading it.

Everything.

Nothing.

Like a circuit overloaded, he shorts out.  Viktor is everything, and then he too, is nothing.  Only the waves buffeting his body.  A feeling that never stops, never goes away.  By the time his eyes open once more, the captain's point of view is... different.  Strange.  Every bit of him feels strange, though he still floats in the sea.  How long had he been in the water like this?  Righting himself in the shallows, Viktor still finds himself spitting blood.

Head swimming, it's hard to assess his situation like this.  With only the icy water lapping at his ankles to ground him, it seemed Viktor had absolutely no idea what he was in for.

Hawkes despised the cold. He'd no clue what possessed him to head due north like this, save for a desire for change and a need for something new. He'd spent enough time wandering down south; it was time for some different scenery.

But fuck if he wasn't freezing his ass off.

The man had been drawn to the ocean once more, like a magnet. It was always bad for him, and yet, he found himself returning more often than not. The smell of salt on the air had him on a leash that he could not rid himself of.

It seemed he was not the only one, though Hawkes had the good sense not to hop into the ice water and take a bath. The stranger was soaked, standing in the shallows, unmoving.

Should Hawkes say something? It felt like that would be the appropriate thing to do.

"'S not my idea of a good day t' take a soak," he jested from his place on the shore, yellow eyes scanning over the stranger watchfully. Waiting to see what he would do.
