This place was odd. While Aleksei took a great deal in stride, their appearance here was... unsettling. Thinking about it made the hairs along his nape bristle uncomfortably. His father had drilled into him: "be aware of your surroundings" (said with much frustration and hidden amusement at the boy's antics), and so he was — almost to an uncomfortable degree.

There were too many things to make sense here. The temperate woodland he walked within; a towering snowscape to the northwest, seen across the stretch of seawater; what he thought to be a stretch of land to the southwest... and that was only what he had explored so far.

@Ekaterina was never very far, staying close enough that he could protect her even while scouting the terrain. They were alone thus far, and so he could command no other knights to scout ahead, leading him to doing it himself. At least the silence was somewhat pleasant.
