The lack of tiny prodding hands to stir her sleep was what disturbed her eyes to open. Yet they still sat heavy on her face with the feeling of sleep, no matter her attempts to shake it off. Her eyes felt smaller hence, but a gaze upon the young woman's face did reveal that no such thing were true. They sat wide and watching and aware at the sprawling scene before her, full of colors and life.
She chuffed for the rats again, yet they did not come. Had something happened to them? The doctor pressed forward, her nose gazing around the width of trees to inspect their nooks for tiny life. Nothing that even resembled her babies crept in their crannies. She sighed, detested, and tried to gather sleeping thoughts that still cooked in the dull of her brain. A broth of sleep that dared to pour out of her ears if she tilted her head too long, taking any short term memory with it.
Tofa had just been asleep, this she was sure of, yet she seemed to have transported herself someplace else. Or was this a dream? It would explain the lack of her chambermaids, she supposed, even though they were usually in her thoughts and heart when she slept.
Curious and at a loss, the girl sat in the brush and waited around, watching little colorful things swoosh past her overhead.
