Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

It was quiet. Though Sienna’s thoughts usually felt overwhelming, screaming within a small body to be set free, it was with an unusually silent demeanor the girl walked. Neglected in the soft tendrils of long fur were the remains of petals she’d found when she’d first woke, golden and smelling of something sweet. Amidst herself, again, she’d left the sweeping glade just north of where she was now. Triage was, no doubt, lurking somewhere near but the absence of him was not something she seemed to fret herself with.

She was lonely, yes. All the birdsong in the world could not cure it, but she was also lost. Lost to the world and to herself, lost amidst a place she hadn’t quite been able to call home. Without a home, without a place, the girl had done nothing but wander. Wander until her feet grew tired or her eyes could barely hold themselves wide. And yet, the next day, it was the same. A long, slow cycle.

And then there was another, alone just as she, with a grim wear upon his face. Soft with a tone ever-light, she called to him, or to whatever it was she’d seen. "Hello?”
