It had happened again. Another night where she had fallen asleep in one place only to awake in another completely, though unlike the last, it was the sun that blinded her into consciousness. The air smelled sweet, warm in a way she was unfamiliar with, just as she was to the plethora of colors that swayed on dancing petals. Even still, there was still something that felt...off. Like the fog of the woods she now knew crept the corners of her mind, light...like a dream. Was this a dream? Was there a way to really know? Duende couldn't quite recall any dream like this, not that she recalled many, warm and bright in a place of her own imagination.
The sprite's tail beat behind her, brushing waves in the tall grass and stems of flowers. If it was only a dream...then surely it would be fine to wander. Duende was quick to her paws, bounding amongst the rolling green with a silent grin. Turning round the hillside brought her to a riverbank, small lights blinking in the sky, and more notably, leaves larger than anything she had ever seen. The small girl skidded to a halt, her jaw parted in awe, especially as her dual-colored gaze fell upon the girl attempting to ride one.
No cry came from her parted lips as she slipped, the gentle current spraying in her thrashing limbs. The sprite ran to the river's edge; her paws halted once more as she stared down into the running current. Her mother had only let her play in still water, shallow pools where the water barely tickled her belly. This water was far more deep, sure to swallow her whole should she try to run to the other girl. Duende glanced between the river's edge and the other several times, unsure what to do other than bark, so that is what she did, hopeful that her sisters would know better or an adult could come fix things.
