Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

It all feels like a big dream — and maybe that's because it is, but she can't be entirely sure. The wildflowers that tickle her knees feel real enough, and so does their encapsulating scent. Yet her eyes search for signs of life beyond flickering fireflies and foliage; though the fireflies' dancing does catch her sometimes, wondering how it felt to be the stars of this little absent place. There was no remembrance of her coming here, which was also another feeding factor that led her to believe further that this was a dream, or waking here. It was like she blinked and just was. Though, what a beautiful place to be, she couldn't deny how her eyes widened at the lush land, colors she'd rarely seen in day-to-day life, trees that were twisted and fruitful with tufts of leaves collecting at the tops. Surely a good place for her to show off her talents, given any one was around but her.

The sound of nearby water pulled her; where there was water, there was life. Well, more often than not. After all, who wouldn't want to sip on water whilst they checked their fur? Upon arrival, the woman is greeted with sure evidence that this was a dream. Large leaves floated along the river, making their way through clusters of fireflies. They were perfect for taking on the size of a wolf — or two. The river sides were painted with vivid blooms of flowers she'd not documented as "real" before then. Truthfully, it was breath-taking, which was rare for the woman to see outside of herself.

With her attention caught; she doesn't notice the leaves that stop aside the riverbeds, waiting, searching for either a lone wolf like her or a couple to retreat to. Nor the previous mission to find another person around this little dreamland of hers, because if it is entirely hers, then maybe she is truly alone.
