Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Please note, all In Character areas (including threads and profiles) are not viewable to guests to better protect our playerbase from those who scrape RP forums to train AI bots. Please register if you wish to see more of the forum.

x August 02: Hello friends. ❤️

I want to start out by saying how much we appreciate each and every one of you, you dedication, your words, your passion, and everything you've put into the community here. Unfortunately, the bell has tolled for our dear Canis. There are many factors and reasons that have gone into this decision, and I apologize if it feels sudden. The site will remain up for as long as necessary for players to retreive their information and posts.

Below is a list of the following characters that are currently safe from our first activity check. If you do not see your character's name, that means they will be hiatused on August 2nd. This will be updated frequently in the coming days. If you believe your character should be on this list and they have not appeared in a few days of posting, please reach out to staff to confirm your status.

Low-priority characters are not exempt from posting by August 2nd. The extended posting timeframe for low prio will go into effect after August 2nd once the site has established activity amongst the current characters.

This list will only be generated for this first activity check to help ensure members they are meeting our new activity requirements. We will not be posting a list each month.
