Lean, rugged, and mildly disheveled in a roguishly handsome manner. Chehalis is genetically predisposed to favor speed and agility over brute force, and bulk even when fit, and has the bone length to back it up. His shapes are primarily angular, with a streamlined profile, and tapered muzzle. One could be forgiven for mistaking him for an overgrown coyote when considering the whole. His primary coat is a sandy auburn, with shades of autumnal rust across the bridge of his nose and back of his ears, complimented by a warm beige undercarriage. These same colors are scattered sparingly throughout his agouti pelt, interspersed with sandalwood, and grey. Black-and-white ticking is draped across his shoulders, and extends down the middle of his back, indicative of his southern heritage. His tail is also dipped in inky black.
A pair of twin nicks on the left side of his muzzle below his tear-line are old injuries from a puphood spar. Above his brow is another scar which is slightly obscured by his fur.
Although rebellious, impatient, and willful in his younger years, his experiences transformed him into a steadfast, selfless guardian of peace—lauded for being a successful mediator, fierce protector, and modest leader. The question is: will history repeat itself?
A vivacious spirit, with a great love of adventure. Cavalier, and devil-may-dare—he takes on the world three strides at a time, but isn't afraid to selflessly anchor himself to a cause, a place, or a community. His emotions are irrefutably genuine, and he has a difficult time deceiving others though his empathy lends him a touch of intuition bordering on uncanny at times. On a whole, Chehalis means well but his moral compass, and fierce devotion to justice, often leads him heart-over-head into situations he is ill-equipped for.
History
Born to doting parents alongside his twin brother, Montesano, Chehalis wanted for little in life. He grew up proud and, under the tutelage of the wandering rogue, Bronx, bold. He struck out from his home at eight-months old following the trail of his mentor, only to arrive in the Salvaje Valley a few weeks later. He was taken in by the Mount Shadow pack and grew to adulthood beneath the protective gaze of Oni Dokuga and, later, Cypress Frostfur. It was here he met his first friend, Gracie Bug, and his first love, Kirania (who, unbeknownst to him, was involved with another pack member, Element). He also found his old mentor, Bronx, who he visited regularly. Shortly before winter's thaw, Montesano found him and demanded he return home to make amends to the family. He initially resisted, but relented when he learned Pleiades' health was declining rapidly. He remained with his family until his father's passing, but departed again soon thereafter, unable to cope with his grief.
He returned to the Salvajes to an empty mountain, and elected to wander as a loner until he could figure out what to do next. He visited Bronx regularly, becoming an impromptu babysitter, mentor, friend, and brother to the DeMonte family. This was later officiated when Bronx learned of Pleiades' passing, and his estrangement from the Hawkings family. Initially, he considered settling with the DeMontes, but fate had other plans in store. While wandering the shores of White Rose Lake, he came across a lost boy by the name of Gideon, and decided to take him in until his parents could be found. Unwilling to put the burden on his own father, and the recently established Whisper Forest, the pair joined Silent Moon Plateau under the leadership of Takashi. Their bond continued to grow until Chehalis realized that he had become more than a guardian and a babysitter—he'd become a father to the awkward, pudgy boy, just as Bronx had become a father to him in the absence of his own.
Tensions in the valley bloomed as spring descended in to summer, spurred by a wolf named Caligula who had settled upon Mount Shadow in the interim intending to lay claim to Nova Mountain, the Plateau's neighbors. Athena DiSarinno, a friend and heir to the Mountain legacy, was a primary target of Caligula's vision. Other altercations elsewhere between the Everto and Salvajes wolves sewed seeds of mistrust, anger, and outrage until it all came to a head when Chehalis spearheaded a reckless attack against Caligula's temporary claim of Mount Shadow. Others rushed to aid him including his twin brother who was tragically killed by Fiesta, one of the Everto leaders. Seeing that his spirit was broken, Caligula called off the defense and returned to the mountain, leaving Chehalis to suffer the consequences of his actions. Creedence Stormbringer, one of the few who came to his aid, assisted Chehalis in bringing Montesano to Hickory Stream Woods where he was laid to rest.
When the shock wore off, Chehalis threw himself into his work, quickly cementing his position as the Plateau's Guardian. Starchaser d'Erom, an old friend, apprenticed with him. He once again compartmentalized his grief, becoming withdrawn, and methodical, all while working himself to exhaustion to ensure the Evertos were not planning a counterattack against the Plateau. Unfortunately, this led to him developing a deep-seated fear of loss, manifesting in anxiety and anger when the stress became too much to contain. The exuberant, excitable energy he formerly presented became tightly wound, and directed toward his duties, his family, and his pack. Even the flickers of romance between himself and Love couldn't deter him from his path. He desired revenge.
A chance presented itself during a stormy autumn night. He encountered Caligula, and demanded to know why he persisted, and why they couldn't make peace with what they had. In the end, it changed nothing. The pair fought fiercely until Caligula caught the upper-hand and toppled Chehalis, who cracked his head against a stone. Badly injured, bleeding profusely, and now concussed, Chehalis lost consciousness and Caligula left him for dead. He awoke some time later and managed to drag himself back to the Plateau where he was aided by Love, and Accolon, their young medic and Gideon's best friend. The Evertos proceeded to invade Nova Mountain the following night, and made significant headway, until Caligula was killed by (WHOM??? I FORGOT, FUCK). Without their leader, his followers scattered to the winds.
But the reaper would claim one more life before departing for a time. Bronx's long-time mate, Vanity, died in childbirth, leaving their latest litter motherless and Bronx grieving. Knowing his family needed his support more than ever, Chehalis uprooted to Whisper Forest with Gideon in tow and became their Gamma alongside his aunt, Allure. Love later joined him, and together they began to plan their future.
- He vanished unintentionally, but I don't have a good filler for this because my life was chaos at this point in time. There was a large rift between himself, Love, and his family, so he returned to the Plateau to give them space. Love warned him that Takashi was gone and, indeed, leadership had been passed to Gideon's friend and Starchaser's adopted son, Liyano D'Erom , who welcomed him back.
- Fimbulvetr happened, he almost froze to death, was rescued by Caligula's son, Adonis and together they survived until Spring.
- His father died in a rockslide, Sarasvati moved the family to Mount Firefly (name?), and were a bit cold to him initially.
- Joined Hickory Stream Woods and became a Peacekeeper. When Nova Mountain began to rumble, he cut his losses and headed west.
- Seahawk Valley shenanigans including finding Athena again, falling in tru wuv and finding his happy ever after.
