Appearance

As close a picture of femininity as you could expect to find in a wolf, Ember is a beautiful blend of dark chocolate with a swirl of whipped cream in all the right places. Mahogany hues give way to something softer and yet softer still, allowing just enough light for her to stand out in a crowd while still being able to manage to blend with certain surroundings. Ember's coat swirls around her in unkempt curls which give her more trouble in humid climates and seasons. Muscle and fat seem to dance delicately around one another in the right places, particularly notable in those lean legs. She carries herself with pride, though her long legs allow for a graceful, almost fluid stride. You could get lost in honey eyes, if you didn't get the sinking sense that they were going to swallow you first. There's something cold there, a sort of penetrative effect that leaves you feeling as though she's invaded your soul with just a simple look.

Personality

There's more to Ember's complexity than the warring colors of her coat. Like anyone else in the world she is a myriad of traits, some that could be described as good, bad, or either or. Admittedly, it probably depends on who you ask. Ember is level headed, logical and patient in a crunch and eager to give thought to all of her options rather than making an uninformed decision. This plays off of her curiosity. Even as a child, Ember was ready to ask the hard questions and learn as much as she could. She has learned to observe her surroundings for the answers she seeks, as well, and enjoys taking in the tiny details of friends and strangers alike. Don't expect her to tell you what she's learned about you or current company. Ember learned early on that secrets are her true strength, and she holds quite a bit of information only for herself. To get her to trust you enough to share it is wishful thinking. She's calculating and vindictive, using false charm and her natural beauty to win over those around her. There's good in there, a soft sort of sympathy that she holds in particular for other females. From time to time she's been known to listen to a problem WITHOUT looking for a way to use it to her benefit. It's just.. not always easy to tell when she's being genuine or not. A mystery with a developing sadistic streak.

History

Ember was born on the wrong side of her pack; or rather, the wrong gender. Traditionally Kudrunn built and sowed its roots on the concept that the high ranking men of the pack were supreme. The ladies were nothing more than companions for the officials and occasional healers, perhaps bartering chips in a pinch. Things were as close to smooth as they could be for a while, all things considered, but as Ember and her littermates grew the tracks were laid for the tragedy of the next few years; she and her siblings did not look like their father.

The truth was, Ember's mother Ash had felt what actual love and companionship could be. Though she never admitted to who the wolf was, she did confess that the pups didn't belong to her intended and at the time mate. Ember had just barely been weaned when the realization struck, and in a brutal fit of rage her mother was slain before her eyes by her mate, Warren. He didn't stop there; her brothers received the same punishment for their mothers actions despite their innocence. Apparently valuing Ember and her sister Cinder for the fact that they could one day reproduce for the pack, he allowed the pair to live. Rather than care for them, though, he passed them along to Willow, the eldest Healer of the pack. At her age she was of little use to the pack, and would never bear any more litters. With the reminders of his late mate's betrayal tucked away at Willow's side, it was the last they'd really interact with their previously assumed father.

Ember grew and flourished beneath Willow's teachings, taking to life as a healer with little struggle. She loved the work. Perhaps her life was not the happiest, particularly with the rocky start and the way that the pack treated her as an outlier and a smudge on their traditions, but with Willow to guide her it was difficult to focus on the bad. While Ember seemed to have a natural gift for healing, her sister seemed to do nothing but struggle. Ember tried her best to help with Willow's teachings, but eventually her sister had aged into maturity and the pack decided that if Cinder was no use as a healer she was a good bartering chip. Warren pushed for her to be sent from the pack all together, more than happy to have half of the reminder of his past gone from sight. Ember tried desperately to bargain for her to remain there to learn more but unfortunately the pack wouldn't hear her. Ember will never forget the day she had to say goodbye to her sister, one of her only friends. It was the beginning of her undoing.

Perhaps she could have eventually moved on past the loss of her sister. There's no knowing now. Matchmaking began for Ember, though that was quite the relative term. It was simply a waiting game. Should one of the high ranking males decide she was worthy as his bride, she would be. Time was ticking. Ember wanted only to learn from Willow and throw herself into healing. And then things changed. On an early morning when the weather was turning a little warmer and the pups were leaving their mothers sides, Ember witnessed for the second time in her life a woman being slain alongside her pups because she had been unfaithful to a man she'd been told she was the property of. The bodies were left to rot, the healers forbidden to do their duty, and something inside of her snapped.

With newfound hatred in her gut, Ember began gathering the plants that Willow had always warned her to stray away from. She would poison the males slowly, one at a time, and watch them drop. There was nothing for her or Willow to do once the poison had shown signs of it working. Ember was unfortunately still barely an adult, still so innocent in a lot of ways, and so she didn't realize the trail she was leaving behind her. Her treachery was discovered, her cache of poisonous items found, but before Ember could be slain for it Willow declared that she was the truly guilty party. Willow claimed to have done the poisoning, saying that she had left the evidence in Ember's space so that no one would think to look. The punishment for the crime was brutal. Ember can never forget the way that Willow screamed, how her bones sounded as they were snapped and mangled. And Ember will never, ever forgive the pack for that day, even if there's now nothing left of them.

It took a while, but Ember used her newest lesson on hiding her true motives to mask what she was doing for the next few weeks. In that time she made sure to appear nothing but the devout healer. She was friendlier with the high ranking officials, perhaps flirtatious. She acted as though she understood the transgression that Willow had committed, that she was happy to have a murderous wretch gone from the pack. And when at last she'd managed to gather enough of the plants necessary, she killed them all. With nothing left behind but a few terrified females, Ember wandered off into the night. She would walk until the mists overtook her, and then walk just a little further.
