Appearance

Aksel is long and leggy with slight muscle definition in his limbs. His coat is predominantly black with some umber undertones, but is gradually growing into a more salt-and-pepper appearance with age. In the warmer months, the umber undertones shine from beneath, giving his fur a pronounced and noticeable rich brown coloration. The texture of his fur is naturally more wiry and is more prone to appearing ragged and unkempt, but with proper grooming is more soft to the touch. His coat is typically more thin than thick but can become quiet fluffy during the colder months of the year. Aksel possesses a more broad-shaped top of his head and softer facial features instead of an angular or chiseled look. Generally, he is an attractive-looking wolf but nothing about his appearance makes him more or less remarkable to look at. His most distinguishable feature are the color of his eyes, a very pale shade of blue, a nice contrast to that of his dark fur.

Personality

aksel | 'peace of the father'
holt | 'living in/by a small wood'
danish heritage

a man on the rise.

once a meek and awkward man, he is growing into a more confident and self-assured wolf. he is driven by the motivation of giving his son a proper home and family, to put down roots among the relationships he forms and the place he calls home, and the opportunity to offer others a place to grow alongside them. he is eager to become a chief that would make the last one proud. aksel use to struggle to find his place in the world among others, which led to the tendency to drift and become distant. however, in doing his best to overcome all of the losses he has endured, he has completely turned himself around and now thrives on doing his best to achieve his goals and sticking around for his family. aksel is growing into a good and capable leader and will continue to do so, even in the worst of times, so long as he has those he loves by his side.

he is a good, true, and loyal friend. your typical Ted Mosby type. very much a Dad Friend™. generally is more cheery and playful, and extremely passionate about his goals and family. although he is prone to spontaneous moments of deep melancholy, he is quick to bounce back in order to be the best version of himself for his family, friends and anyone he meets. his passion and drive can sometimes be perceived as being a highly intense individual, especially considering he can be very emotional and sensitive. he strongly believes that being open and honest is the best policy and tries to live his life by those core values, while also being courteous and kind while doing so.

has the kind of smile that is easy to make others smile and the kind of guy that has a contagious laugh. has a stressed out and anxious tick of pushing his paws into the ground and layering them on top of one another repeatedly the worse it gets. doesn't mean to, but has naturally dramatic and expressive body language, as well as facial expressions. is definitely more touchy-feely, is comforted by the physical presence of others, even if it is as minimal as a quick head or shoulder bump. possesses a slight, yet unmistakable, southern twang in his speech with phrases and words, but does not have a clear and developed southern accent. even when at his best and most confident, still has awkward speech patterns as well such as stuttering, long and/or abrupt pauses, repetition both in confusion and for emphasis, and surges in energy and or volume and tone when most expressive.

History

CANIS
Waking in Canis, Aksel is reunited with his son Larke as well as the others of the newly-branded Fellowship: Ess, Talis, Brynn and Rush. They settle into where they woke, an island in the southwest of Canis they've named Shamrock Grove. While there, Aksel and Ess decide to make their relationship official and become mates. Soon after, Ess becomes pregnant with their first litter. Two boys, Flint and Leif, are born alongside two girls, Saffron and Briar.

Aksel settles into the valley alongside his packmates in the Twilight Vanguard, but once a home has been established, he leaves them behind in attempt to relocate Nanna. Six months later, his ventures reap no rewards and he returns home. On the way, he meets a man named Clover Dandy who decides to join him. When they reach the Vanguard's home, Evermist Glen, Clover Dandy decides to stay and join the pack. Aksel soon after meets a boy named Larke Lynx Holt, and if the surname wasn't enough, they realize their father-son connection through Nanna. As winter turns into spring, Aksel and Clover admit their growing feelings and attraction to one another, and decide to become mates officially. The pack's medic, Spice, suddenly passes away, and soon after follows the death of Icarus' wife, Tamaska. In the spring, Aksel's longtime friend and Chief, Icarus, gets bitten by a snake. The man's death is witnessed not only by Aksel but also Icarus' children who flee the Vanguard, and letting them run away becomes one of Aksel's biggest life regrets. Aksel recruits a woman named Talis Allison to join the Vanguard despite its instability with the loss of their Chief, but the problem is soon remedied when he steps up and becomes the next Chief. Not everyone is happy with the decision, and a majority of the Vanguard leave the pack seeking new beginnings. Ross informs Aksel that Ross' father, and the late Spice's mate, Arren, has died and Ross decides to leave in the wake of the sudden losses. In the summer, Aksel decides he wants a fresh start for the remainder of the Vanguard, that being himself, his son and Talis. Together the three decide to set out for a new home.

In the autumn, the three have traveled through beaches and forests trying to find a new home. They meet a man named Brynn Awbrey who is also from Horizon, and Aksel feels an instant connection. Brynn originally declines this offer and they part ways, but when they bump into one another again and are surprisingly reunited, Brynn accepts the offer and joins the Vanguard. The four of them eventually find their way into the redwoods of Dawn and decide to settle in a dense copse by a small pond and waterfall, and decide to name it Hummingbird Hollow. The pack claims the area as their home and settle here. Everyone gets official ranks now with Larke becoming the Herald, Talis becoming the Medic, and Brynn as a Friend. Soon after they settle, Aksel is met by a boy named Rush who injured his leg and wants to join. Aksel accepts the boy as a Friend and the newest recruit to the Vanguard. When winter comes to dawn, the season begins with a breakup as Clover Dandy decides he wants to leave and have more adventures on his own. Newly single Aksel hopes to get back into the dating game a month after the split and is met by Ess, a wolf who challenges him to confess his vulnerabilities. Although the interaction is rocky, the two hit it off in the end and Ess decides to travel home with him.

With winter coming to a close, Aksel feels settled and secured in life with lots of potential. But life is full of surprising twists and turns, and soon Aksel will be reminded of this when he awakens within the realm of Canis.

When fire rampaged through the Horizon valley, Aksel and some of the rest of the Vanguard escaped, but not without having separated. Through the smoke and flames, Aksel accidentally lost sight of his friends, but eventually was able to locate them and together the Vanguard (or what was left of it) traveled through the treacherous terrain. Along the way, he found Nanna who was a girl from the Firewing Brotherhood. The two spent a couple of nights together, which led to her pregnancy. The two split up with plans to have their packs, friends and family meet, but were never able to reconnect.

Aksel was born alongside his siblings, Eerik and Astrid, to Bjorn Holt and Zehnai, a caregiver for the Northern Order. He also had adoptive siblings Cree, Nikolas and Ferris Yahn. When Aksel was a boy, his adoptive siblings and their father left and scattered. One day, Aksel's mom got really sick and it was incurable, so the Northern Order's healer, Josalyn, gave her herbs that ended her life. This broke his family apart, and his siblings Astrid and Eerik decided to leave to join a pack residing on the beach. Aksel traveled with his father, Bjorn, for a long time before he was abandoned in the middle of the night. Aksel ventured back home but his home had also been abandoned and the pack had disbanded. Because of this, he left the valley to make his own path, but due to fatigue from dehydration and starvation, Aksel's memory clouded and he found himself with temporary amnesia.

Wandering back into the Horizon valley, he met fellow Northern Order child, Icarus Dusk. The two became tight-knit friends, and Icarus helped him to regain his memory. Aksel mourned once more the loss of all those he lost, but found himself with a new family when Icarus started their pack: The Twilight Vanguard. Through the pack, Aksel became fast friends with another in the pack, Ross Thorn, and the trio remained close for several years. Soon, Josalyn returned with her new mate, Poet, whose pack of the Stormborn Alliance had also disbanded. Aksel and Icarus learned that her brother, Orion, who had joined another pack called The Evergreen Wolves and had children of his own, had recently died due to a snake bite. Aksel forgave Josalyn for giving his mother the herbs and thanked her for helping his mom be rid of her pain, and the two bonded over their losses before she and Poet left. Eventually the Vanguard gets some new members and Aksel meets Artem and Atalya, and Epidemic and Kronos. Artem and Atalya have a child named Aiden and Epidemic has children named Ego and Umpire. Aksel learns Epidemic has disappeared and that Kronos has a child of his own in the Firewing Brotherhood, and he leaves taking Epidemic's daughters with him.

Pack History

The Starfall Fellowship
5 yrs old - present
Traveling out of Dawn, Aksel believed that this new phase of their pack ought to be started with a fresh start. The troupe decided to rebrand themselves as the Starfall Fellowship as a way to better reflect who they were now rather than how the Vanguard was when it originated. Along the way on their adventure, they somehow mysteriously awoke one morning in the realm of Canis.

The Twilight Vanguard
2 yrs old - 5 yrs old
When his father abandoned him, Aksel traveled out of the valley for awhile and upon returning, reunited with his friend who was another child of the Order named Icarus Dusk. Along with a surly, one-eyed man they befriended named Ross, the three formed the Twilight Vanguard together. Aksel was named the pack's official Guardian, and together they escaped from the fires of Horizon into the valley of Exodus, and then finally into the valley of Dawn during the earthquakes that shook Exodus. They traveled together for a long time, and still a young adult, being apart of the Vanguard instilled responsibility and honor into Aksel. When Icarus died, most the Vanguard left for their own new adventures and Aksel stepped up as the next Chief. He led his son, and a girl he befriended named Talis, away from the Vanguard's home until they found somewhere new to settle. Along the way, he recruited Brynn to join them, another man from Horizon. Once settled, the Vanguard also recruited a young boy Larke's age, as well as a wolf named Ess who Aksel sparked a romantic interest in. Having been traveling for so long, Aksel felt their journey was still unfinished, and when Talis suggested they go on an adventure, Aksel agreed and led the Vanguard out of the valley, leaving both their home and their pack's name and legacy behind them.

The Northern Order
birth - 2 yrs old
The Northern Order was the pack Aksel was born into, surrounded by family and friends alike. However, when Aksel was very young, as the other children grew up and left home, the pack began to crumble as parents and fellow adults left with them. When Aksel's mother died, his own siblings both biological and adoptive went on their own ways, and Aksel took up traveling with his father who had always been a rogue for the next year of his life.
