Baelfire attempted to save her life, begging for mercy, but she was slain in front of him. he was beaten and left for dead. was attacked by a mountain lion, attracted to the scent of blood. managed to fight it off and run.

— wandered for two years, happening upon various teachers in herbology. managed to grasp skills he had never been versed in, finding he had a natural talent for it. entered into another society at the age of three, wherein he was welcomed during their darkest hour. sieged on all sides by a cult, it traumatized Baelfire who had grown up in the setting. he was able to use his military training against them, killing one key leader who managed to fool and even infiltrate before she slew the king. found love - or so he thought. after pining from afar, he was given a chance. however, it seemed the woman wanted to use his good nature to protect her reputation. revealed she had gotten pregnant.

— despite knowing the children she carried were not his, he (a fool and in love) was there for her and offered to raise them with her. two months went by, and he found his lover on the border. she lost the children to a random attack by an outsider. he stood by her side, barely eating, and nearly lost her too. he buried his children. he wept in silent, suffering quietly as his lover took to recreational things to ease her own pain. was often verbally abused by her. she rewarded his loyalty with breaking things off in the end, and he left the kingdom shortly after. partaking in nearly anything to ease his pain, he stumbled through another year until he woke up in Canis. alone and thinking he had been claimed by his former cult's mad goddess. reason caused him to believe this was not the afterlife, and he seeks a better life here. perhaps even a happy ending.
