Omura Suzune

Suzune wants to own something. She wants to own herself. But how can she when the only way she's known how to survive is to sell her pride, dignity, and body away? She sees herself unbound from the shackles around her limbs, to smell the air as freely as herself. But when her eyes open, she finds herself in dimly lit rooms, reeking the stench from her client's panting.

She is not a captive for captives to flee when freedom comes, but rather a well-trained dog for Suzune knows that freedom is a mere dream for someone who can't even take care of themselves.

3-3-3

".. For my body, not even its own"

Everynight I lay in bed with another, this word has lost its meaning to me

I fear that one day I'll doom my children to the same fate as myself. The best I can hope for them is never to come at all

How can you ask me of something so cruel?

▸ Trinkets, small items
▸ Something to call her own
▸ Rain

▸ Her dependence
▸ Dishonesty

i.
▸ Carries a light Japanese accent. It's recognizable as foreign, but difficult to distinguish which. She was forced to lose most of it while working in the red-light district
▸ Omura is her surname, and Suzune is her first. Traditionally, surnames are used to refer to others in Japanese culture as a form of respect, and first names indicate closeness, whether romantically or platonically. Suzune is used to sharing her first name due to her background and is rarely called Omura as she believes that her family doesn't want to associate with her
▸ "Suzu" means bells, and "ne" means sound. Roughly translated, Suzune means "the sound of bells," which is a nickname that refers to how she often adorned herself in bells before Canis

ii.
▸ Refers to those she deems as higher ranking as "lord" and "lady"
▸ Slightly superstitious, believing in divinity and spirits
▸ Fluent in English and Japanese

iii.
▸ Fur looks redder in the light
▸ Her eyes are usually yellow but hints of red can be seen closeup
▸ Low stamina with a lack of muscles. She's a domesticated animal

Suzune is beautiful.

At first glance, she appears to be nothing more than a pretty face. She goes to great lengths to care for herself as her profession revolves around physical appearance. She has long dark fur with an uncanny pair of yellow cat-like eyes. She’s delicate, fragile. One touch too rough, and she'll crumble. Her physique is an entertainer’s, not a fighter’s.

Suzune grew prettier as the years passed, but it was more of a curse than a blessing. Her culture did not value a woman as much as a man, and how unfortunate she was to be born into a family that saw her as nothing but a means to fetch a little more money to prepare for winter. In a small village, many men offered a dowry for her hand in marriage; however, her father would reject them all under the pretense that she was worth more, but this was not a compliment.

Sold to a foreign man and forced to abandon her lifestyle for one of the red-light districts. Castaway to a city far from home, it was apparent she didn’t belong. Here, she had nothing; she owned nothing — not even herself. This was her first real-world experience.

Upon entering the brothel house, she managed a variety of indoor chores while being educated about literature and art by other courtesans. Suzune continued until she came of age to become a courtesan herself. She continued working like this for a few years and began to grow accustomed as a prostitute. However, her bit of normalcy would quickly end when a client, too drunk and too violent, crashed beside her. He was cruel, and he liked how she looked, even more so when it was her life at the whims of his hand. In that brief moment, the feral and canine instincts she had long suppressed shot through her as a bullet would. It was fast, and her body moved faster than her mind could process. Only when the deed was done did she stumble backward with a dying customer on her bed.

Fear fueled her to run further and further away as she burst through the paper doors and into the forest. She could her sins crawl up her back as she ran until the trees blurred and the fog rolled in, causing her to lose visibility and roll down a hill, striking her head against a rock as she did and landing unconscious at the base of a tree, eventually waking up in Canis.

Suzune wakes up in the Moving Garden, where she ventures and eventually finds herself at the Oasis. With hunger and fatigue wearing at her, she accepts Satan's offer to come to his home. She spends a night there and attempts to leave, only to be caught and forced into Warcrest as a Slave. Satan scars the side of her neck, marking her as Warcrest's and, to an extent, Satan's.

As she spends a week there to recuperate, Suzune eventually decides that the pack is too dangerous to reside in, especially with her current status. As the sun sets, she leaves, and as the Oasis comes into view, Arashi hunts her down, questioning her actions. Upon being caught in a lie, he breaks her leg while indulging in sadistic torture before bringing her back to the pack.

From hereon, Arashi's face or even the thought of him instills an uncontrollable fear through her. She does her best to avoid him, and although often successful, it's inevitable that she catches his eye. As a result, she stops staying near the heart of Warcrest's land and lives on the outskirts. Far enough to avoid the men of the pack but close enough so that she could not be accused of fleeing.

Suzune begins to fear leaving more than staying, and so the courtesan grows comfortable with living under the protection of her oppressors.

Suzune lives her days relatively isolated as she avoids pack interaction, often only speaking only when she's approached first. But she grows fond of Crown, a young and curious boy adopted by the Mercenary King and Queen. She sympathizes with the boy's plight and begins treating him like her child, hoping that she can alleviate his worries even a little. From hereon, the courtesan begins to bring back small trinkets and herbs on her outings to share with the boy if he ever visits her. She often teaches the boy of kindness and compassion when they speak. In doing so, Suzune hopes that her influence is enough to prevent the boy from following in his adoptive parents' footsteps.

While living on the outskirts of the land, she meets an assortment of characters.
