Peyote was raised alone within the confines of a cold steel cage at the hands of cruelty. She was fed very little with barely any nourishment as she watched her parents being forced to reproduce and suffer till their untimely death. That was when her experiments and physical abuse began at the hands of men. As soon as she was old enough her feedings switched from some liquid diet to meat. Only it wasn't just that. No. They added something else to it but in her hungry state, she ate without thought regardless. All reasoning went out of her mind when the metallic scent hit her nose. She pushed past the weird taste it had from the peyote they laced the meat with. It wasn't long before she started feeling the side effects of the plant. Her heartbeat began to pick up its pace. It felt as though it wanted to break out of her ribcage. Her breathing also became faster than normal. Panic started setting in...It was all too much to take in at once and she involuntarily hurled everything she ate before blacking out.
The next thing she remembered was the sound of laughter from the men as they found it quite hilarious that she had passed out in a puddle of her bile. After literally hosing her off they began the experiment again. They threw in the tainted meat, again and again, and she devoured it without hesitation. The side effects hit and the same happened again along with her emotions being all over the place. Anger, sadness, and even happiness.... she felt them all either at a time or multiple at once. The experiment went on and on. She was fed the same meal every day; she would be in that haze. Soon came the hallucinations. Those were fun. Sometimes she would see her mother and sometimes it would be her father, both whispering negative things in her ear. She was weak. A coward. She did not deserve the air which filled her lungs. She was nothing. She would die alone. Worthless. Peyote initially fought against it, but eventually, it started to wear on her. She began to believe every word and the men didn't help. If anything, they added to it. When she would spend the time appearing lifeless, they would prod and poke her violently to make her move. Sometimes they did it out of boredom.
Time went on like this for, what felt like, forever until eventually her hallucinations also came with an imaginary friend. This one was unlike her parents in that it was more supportive. Perhaps a small part of her knew she needed something, anything, to keep her from going over the edge and created this fake being. Hopefully, it wasn't too late. The only downside to this only friendship she currently had was, that she could only see it during her trips after her meal. Otherwise, it would just be a voice in her head. On the plus side, it made her welcome her feeding times now. The woman believed this was going to be her entire life, that she would never be free, until one eventful day. As one of the men feeding her was closing her door, a commotion broke out which caused them all to be distracted. The man closing her door had thought he latched it closed before running off but he was wrong. The moment he went out of sight, her door swung back open, and she definitely noticed. Blue gems perked up at the chance for freedom and she took it. She was unstable on her paws at first but eventually, her movements became smooth enough to make her escape a success. Pey had no idea what had caused the ruckus nor did she care. She knew she may never get the chance again, so she was not about to mess it up with curiosity. Unfortunately, she had to leave the other captives behind, and she felt sorry, but she had to put herself first for ounce. She did, however, manage to grab a souvenir on the way out. A satchel was laying amongst the other debris, and she snatched the straps up with her teeth.
A few months passed after gaining her freedom and she eventually found herself in an unknown location. Memories of the past had become a bit foggy in recollection. She wasn't sure if it was because of her continued use of eating peyotes or if it was due to where she was. It wasn't something she was too worried about, either way. All she cared about at the moment was making sure she still had some of that plant in her satchel that hung around her neck.
