Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

It had been long enough since his time away from @Blackfoot. It was about time he should head back and see if she had left the area he had last seen her, to know if he had finally returned to the lonesome life of solitude or no. Absent-mindedly he followed the sound of trickling water, wanting to satiate the tickle in the back of his throat as he travelled back North to the gardens. With a lick of his lips he approached the familiar grounds of trickling ice-covered water, and turned his back on the stream knowing very well where he was.

A furious snort was pushed from black and charred nostrils hackles raising defensively with a wrathful shake of the hairs as he tremored with angered memories. How dare he interfere with nature's work to get rid of the woman who had given him so much anger. How little she appreciate the gesture despite believing she had sent him to the grave. Blaming the wolves who follow her for their decisions and if one should oppose her beliefs, such as himself, then be damned to them!

With a voiceless snarl, he stormed away. Wanting to burry those memories here like a steaming pile of shit to rot in the snow.

Camouflaged as a part of the wildlife, tucked warmly underneath his elk pelt, Alexei sat near the partially frozen river. Some fragments of ice taking over stiller, sitting waters and the moving river, almost as frigid. The fisherman had set a small trap up, much like the one in the Run that he'd had, before they'd moved away from the mountains and left it all behind.

Rocks held up a small, restricted area; allowing water to pool over when rain fell — or snow melted, and lower when the current stretched too wide. Fish would get caught, usually of the medium or smaller size. Slowly, he would expand a few rocks in, and see how far that got him. But there was still that ringing fear in his ears whenever his ankles were too deep...

Hearing a sharp noise in the distance, Alexei was pulled from the act of fishing, ready to strike when needed — trying to get this trip over quickly so he could be out of the water, and snuggle into the pelts in his den. Violet eyes surveyed the area around him, steadily, before they landed on a hulking white mass. All he could see was the backend of the man.

Something about him was off, on edge, and there was a nagging sense of obligation deep in his bones. "Excuse me," His voice paused for a moment, allowing himself a moment of reprieve from the river, stepping out of it, "Are you alright~? I mean, well. Obviously you don't seem alright.. But what I mean is — is there anything I can do?" Alexei extended his offer with a somber gaze. He knew how it felt to be low — maybe not angry and sad; but sad surely. "A-Are you hungry?" The male gestured back to the few fish he'd caught. Winters were tough, but good things came to those who did good.

Excuse me.

Despite the softness in the tones, it still rattled the man to the point he turned around with a scowl burned across his face. A sharp golden eye cast over his pale, scarred shoulder. His scowl turned into a sneer as his half-lip rose in near disgust at his offer as if there was something the lad could do. The boy would probably find it just as silly of a thought as the archangel did have he known what was bothering the behemoth.

“No.” A simple answer. He didn't need some pipsqueak pitty hunting something for the snow-backed leviathan. All he really wanted was to be out of this accursed place before @Sorina found a way to find him here again.

The beast swiveled his head, turning to find Alexei with his one good eye — and upon seeing his marred face, the fisherman grimaced. It was obviously healed — rather, some of his face on that side had been salvaged.

'No.' It was plain and simply put. And it didn't look like Alexei should press it any further. The last time he had even tried to chat with someone with obvious aggression on their shoulders — putting past that just because someone looked scary didn't mean they were. Well, he wasn't about to be proven wrong again"Alright." He said, leaving well enough alone. Though Alexei didn't make it a point to leave, just moving a few steps towards the water, where he'd previously been for his fishing exploits.
