Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Okay, time to leave the plains. Time to be a true and honest adventurer. So into the forest he goes, singing a song. It is horribly off-key, borderline screaming, and it's chasing all the prey away. But Cobalt survives off fairy dust and wishes. He couldn't kill a creature. He's so perfect and wonderful, look at his little angel face and know that he's the bestest little boy in the entire world.

Except his skin is crawling, and he twitches hard as he enters the lush woods. Then thunder cracks overhead and Cobalt wonders what happened to the good weather. Why he's suddenly soaked to the bone. In truth, the rain's been coming down for a while, but he's noticing it just now. His head buzzes.

Thunder cracks and he leans his head back and screams.

He'd wanted to get out of hours recently, coming to @Ira with the proposal of some away-from-the-summit scouting and then, subsequently, dropping his kids off to @Liutheri as the sun began to rise. What he wasn't anticipating, though, was to be almost deafened by a rogue's awful song, so it didn't take long for him to set off, trudging towards the loner with a scowl settling upon his features. He was supposed to be off on his fantastical quest, not growling at some guy to piss off.

Overhead, rain had begun to trickle down, eventually pelting the earth like bullets. He wrinkled his nose bridge, though continued onwards, his estimates of the sire's position in the forest quickly confirmed by the shriek – caused by the lightning, he thought. Hm. “You alright there?” He called, voice echoing through the trees as he pushed himself closer. “I'm afraid these are pack hunting grounds – you need to leave.”
