Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

To the peaks of the mountains, Ara travelled as the blood of the sky gazed upon her back. Unrelenting as she travelled upwards, to the highest peaks that the nameless mountain allows one-self so she could see all that there was without a tree blocking the view. The sky was clear, the night settling and the stars twinkling. The white light lacked, for red shined down to the world as a golden eye looked high to it. Sitting on her hunches she gazed so.. To the moon who looked to be bathed in blood.

After her reunion with her brother, Nysa too wanted an unobscured view of the moon. She came across the trail of her sister, and with a happy wag of her tail she pursued. Nysa picked her way up, and maneuvered carefully as she ascended. It helped knowing a majority of these paths, but in her youth she could err on the side of recklessness when her sense of adventure seemed to demand it of her. But simultaneously, she could hear the voice of her mother. Do not be stupid.

So, she picked her way a little more carefully after Ara.

When her scent was quite strong, Nysa figured she must be in earshot. “Ara,” she greeted from afar, so that she would know who was coming to meet her if the wind had not already told her.

The faint winds always brought the scent of her family and those of the pack. Drenching the mountains, but the familiar ting of a littermate ventured through as Nysa approached with a calmness sway. She turned a yellow gaze to the sister, chuffing in mild greeting, "do you see the moon?" Ara asked as she returned her gaze to it. Surely the rest of the star-loved family could see as well and wondered whether they thought anything on it.. Was it something to be explained, or a sign altogether? She wasn't too religious and wasn't even sure if she believed in Gods and so, but the way the moon dipped in red.. It was daunting.
