Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Sorrell dipped a bit into the mountains. It was quite difference then the plains, for all around her she could see the stark height in ground, alpine dazzling all over.. If she could see it through the thick forest that also took around. However that itself was not as bad as the smell that was all around, it made her nose twitch, and follow with a tense smile.

The scent of wolves was all around.

She trotted to a small pond, bending down to see her reflection before drinking. It's still quite unnerving to see what was once an old soul of gray fur, and even saggy eyes ; was young and blossoming. She spent some time looking at herself with an awe ; it was hard to get used to.

The mountains were hardly her forte, body adjusted to seaside living, paws calloused by everything but jutting rocks, Benji navigated the maybe-paths poorly, slowly but she managed well enough aside from the stray slip of large paws. There's a slight shake of her head as she followed a snaking trail that led to a small body of water and at it lie another, pale as snow and slender as a fox though notably a bit larger, she whuffed in greeting, slinking around the pond to stand opposite of her as she bowed down to drink.

Wordless be she ever briefly, ears twitching a little. "You've made this quite the oasis," she said. "I'm sure the mountains are jealous to have a rival up here at last."

"Oh, hello there." A very large wolf made their way to the pond as well. A whiff was detected that of a male but for a moment Sorrell that it was an outrageiously large female at best, for their voice was a bit light and their frame looked to be either or. Though it couldn't be denied there was a light intimidation by their mass alone, and she was but a normalized coyote.. Some fear had lifted away when they replied kindly and without a malice or snarl, but one could never be sure within these lands. Her family and even herself was tricked more then once by devious ones.

"My, you charm this old soul,"" but for the meanwhile she was having a pleasant convo and smiled at the other, "but you are a bit too young for me," always forgetting she in-fact was relatively young-looking, barely into her twos. The price to pay! The excuses of elderly age was of no more, and soon such phrases would catch up, "i'm sure such a dashing wolf as yourself has a pretty wife back home that would enjoy such a view as well."
