Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

It had been some time since she saw @Chasm. He was a generally.. Sickly and shy fellow, he had been lowkey since it all but nonetheless a member whose done duty of guarding and hunting. Though she would count him too meek, despite his the name she granted him ; in the hope that maybe he could harness that same spirit. Strange he was, including whatever he had around his mouth.. Always seemed to have it one way or another, but that was his business, and she hadn't judged too harshly.

As she thought of him, her paws kicked something along the beach. Her head cocked to the side as she bent down, for the colors in-fact reminded her vaguely of his look. A present from the sea many would say, scales from the dragons her clan would also rumor to be. No one knew for certain what they were.. But every so often these strange rocks, so colorful to the eye, would wash ashore on the beach.. She was tempted to take it.

Chasm knew once he joined Dragonford that his destiny would manifest into a path for the greater good. The start of an adventure beyond his wildest imagination. What he had not expected though was the filler arc that he had been plagued with for months on end. Ever since the battle he had with the Northfall wolves while sick (really, what was he thinking?), it had been a struggle. On days where strength returned he would hunt and patrol, trying to master the *ational *eographic documentary he found himself involved in. Yet it was difficult, he was clumsy, far newer to the wilds than even pups were. While doing his best sickness would only return. Many members had either left or died too. Some of them he thought about to this day.

Hopefully Chasm's saga would now return to its normal broadcast hours because he could feel it. The strength that burned within him refused to flicker. He would take advantage of this and try to excel once again as the protagonist! He found himself patrolling the beaches with gusto. The salty tinge that had once often stung his nose was now nothing but a comfort.

Suddenly a figure could be made out in the distance. Curious, he wandered over, wondering what adventure could befell him. It was soon to be discovered that a wild Vendrussel had appeared to roam about. Chasm would have normally turned around. He often wasn't one to mingle, not because he disliked any, just simply he felt awkward. However, recent thoughts and her focus on something convinced him to crawl out of his shell for a moment. Trying to look casual (but it just made him look rigid), he greeted the other, trying to feign surprise at the sight of them. He was not an actor. "O-Oh. Fancy, um, meeting you here Vendrussel. Yeah...So what'cha doing?" He said, feeling self-conscious already. Inwardly, he felt really happy about having some company once more. His journey had been far too lonely lately. Slightly his tail wagged.

Still, not waiting for a reply, he stuck his head at what she was staring at. Pretty and blue, it looked like see glass but maybe it was a lost treasure from Atlantis? If he touched it would he get a blessing?! Hesitantly, he poked it and braced himself for a transformation. He probably looked insane to any bystanders.

She looked over to Chasm who spoke. Someone who she named as the [i]Fearless[/u] Dragon in the hope he would truly take on that persona. Though the small man would always be riddled in anxiety, nerves that could be heard in his voice and the comfort of whatever he used upon his muzzle was a strange restraint. His eyes were a blue that reminded her of glacier-water in the highest northern mountains, a prettiness that was brighter then her own. But they looked at both with fear and a wonder as his gaze turned toward that of the sea pebble itself.

"My Clan would call it the remnants of a dragons scale. It's pretty, isn't it?" She smiled lightly at him before turning back to the pebble, her paw touching it like a curious cat.
