“Antares, would you like to patrol with me today?” He slid up next to the dark, usually quiet man. Shoulders touching as she beckoned for his attention to be drawn onto her. It had been a while since they spent any time alone together and she figured a patrol would be the perfect excuse to take him away from the others and all to herself for today and see if she could pique his interest better than the last attempt she had given him.

He was a tough nut to crack, but she was certain that with enough work she could get through and get that attention from him she oh so desired. All she had to do was just chip away at him patiently... and hope that no one else would beat her to it before she could get something out of him. After all, she didn't know how loyal he could be should he find himself a mate some day soon.

“I thought I smelt a tiger near by so I don't wanna do it alone...” Yes, perfect excuse.

Morning dawned, and Antares meandered on the fringes of doing nothing in particular just yet. Soon, he knew he would go further beyond, patrol proper and see what the day would bring them. Through the late night, he had ranged higher up the elevations, tangling into their mazes to his whims to hunt and range otherwise. Satisfied and refreshed with process there, he was content to move along; he could catch up on the happenings below now, make his way back to duty properly.

He blinked and came into a realization that slowed up his steps first, awareness prickling up his neck to know he was not alone. But, his ear tipped back and keen, he identified this as no worrying threat. Sachiko joined in beside him not long after he even noticed, hardly before he could face her. His greeting was a soft chuff, and she wasted no time comfortable where she found herself.

He would have to keep pace with this, suddenly sharper as he got himself up to speed with what brought her to him this morning. Tiger. Reasonable, fair. At this prospect, he felt an edge of a new frown. Maybe their peace was to be shortlived but two were better than one in case there was something lurking. He didn't want to find cats today, though would do what needed done and maybe be proactive before it could flourish into something worse. “Ah, yeah. Sure,” he agreed on a nod, beginning to seek that mindset needed with a flick to his tail. He stayed close to her. “Think it was any tigers we know?” Good or bad, he thought, and would let her lead to pick the heading to start on from there.

Word on Kuhn had been quiet, after all. He had to wonder when this would change.

Bingo.

Antares agreed to follow and sniffing the borders of some fake tiger Sachiko had apparently smelt. It brought butterflies to her stomach as he remained close to her while they walked. He wasn't like @Niklaus or @Vincent and so her tactic for Antares had to be modified if she was going to snag herself a tall dark, quiet and handsome man for a while.

“I don't know, they all smell the same to me.” Wrinkling her nose, that wasn't a lie. She didn't stick around their markers for long to study who it was, only knowing immediately it was a tiger and that she had to turn back around to the safety of the packs.

Testing the waters with him, she'd walk a little closer to him than anyone probably would to a fellow packmate. She'd let their shoulders touch and try to gauge his reaction. “Maybe you could figure it out if they're new or not.” Casually she continued the conversation as though she had no ulterior motives for this. “Perhaps your nose is sharper than mine.”

Well, he couldn't exactly argue.. tigerscent had a certain way about it, easy to label it all as offensive and nothing more. He hm-ed gently and stepped on. It was probably best she not involve herself deeply in such discerning details anyway. Safer that way, in the long run--he guessed.

All the same, he was reminded again how close she was, close enough for contact and close enough to draw a continual thread of his focus towards her. Antares didn't want to falter, but he was far out of practice when it came to anyone being, let alone staying, up in his very space like this. She was not a stranger to him though, so he had to give her that much and relax to her company by the second. He just took time, and he knew this about her, to a certain extent.. he thought. It was where he remained, pensively mulling the conversation's tigers, and Sachiko too, from the corner of his eye.

Since it was the topic he could more reasonably grasp at, he would angle at this potential cat for more information. Still.. new cats, he would rather not, no matter how good his nose was--his ears tipped back and he exhaled a slow sigh. “Maybe. Hopefully not new ones,” was the last thing any of them needed, really. They were too big of a gamble when any semblance of normalcy here was fleeting at best. “Where did you smell it last?” Or whereabouts? He gestured his muzzle vaguely and looked to her next for further details to build this picture with.

There was something about the men in Shiroshika that made them harder to crack than the ones she met elsewhere. Perhaps it was all coincidental, but she also welcomed the challenge. It was a good distraction from the mundane daily activities as well as the haunting memories both old and new replaying in her mind as she tried to sleep at night. “Yeah...” She tried to match his energy and not explode into a ball of extrovert aura around him.

She didn't do very well at it, but the girl did her best. “Maybe if we're lucky, they turned away smelling a pack in the area.” This is what most animals did with overlapping territories. It was why they marked them so heavily to avoid conflicts. Though, it seemed some welcomed disputes and intentionally antagonized other species despite any desire to try and cooperate.

As he asked for where the smell last came from, she took it as an opportunity to flaunt a bit. Maybe get his male hormones buzzing just a bit. A touch with their shoulder rubbing slightly with fur mingling as she passed, the smell of her flowery perfume, she purposely rolled in before they met, the sight of her backside as she ran ahead. Surely the anticipation of danger gave him a little buzz already with adrenaline... surely. She hoped.

“Somewhere near the base of the mountains, where the trees meet grasslands.” Purposely keeping it vague.

It was the most familiar thought to stew in the direction of a lurking tiger, but coming to be not the easiest, most prevailing one to have--a realization that struck him as he watched her pass him by, blinking suddenly. He knew this about Sachiko, though, that she tended to press close and seemed very comfortable doing so. At home with such things, he was secretly, quietly, uncertain about how it made him feel--it wasn't bad, but only alive and following nose first.

Didn't help that she was easy on the eyes, lean muscle and pale furs. All radiating an easy warmth. He kept pace, only a half-step behind and reminded himself to keep a lookout for potential threats, or signs of anything.

If they were lucky, right. “Maybe if the thing truly has enough sense to care...” he groused, a bit belated on the topic of the foreign feline as he peered ahead, nose full of Sachiko instead. He found the cat-shaped sorts to be so hit or miss that he tended not to trust them. It was something to be painstakingly earned instead. But all the same... he was not finding anything to raise suspicions yet despite his efforts, and continued to follow--presumably to where the trees ended, based on her answer. Even with that, he did not have a marked heading in mind. Nothing exact, anyway.

If they didn't find anything she wondered if he would catch on. If he would grow excited at her cheeky attempt to get them alone or if he would be furious at the little games she tried to play here by being coy. If he was at all even a little interested while they were both single and ready to mingle. How serious was he about his duties and if her looks drew him at all even just a little?

It had been so long since she had seen him along with the other handsome men on Shiroshika that she yearned for them more with each passing day. To have just one at least to satisfy and spend her time within these walls as opposed to strange men beyond their borders just to move on to the next.

As they neared where she fibbed in finding signs of the feline, Sachiko would run ahead, sniffing around to try and find the presumed feline's scent that she used to draw him out here with her. Round trees and carefully pacing to try and trace any scents. She knew there was one tiger who would sometimes be found around here, but his scent was gone by now... Damn, the one time she would have liked to have a faint scent of his. “I could have sworn it was somewhere around here...”

Curiously she peeked over her shoulder to gauge a reaction.

Carefully mapping her way around the base of a clump of trees, she hoped he'd join to try and find the illusive feline she spoke of... slowly dropping her facade to see if he would pick up on the signals as she bat her lashes with a sway of her tail while roaming deeper into the solitude of the woods just beyond their stone pillars.

He recognized the signs of a dangerous game, or at least the very distinct possibility. It could fall neatly between lines, but he felt it have some tangibility when he measured his steps to following her back. Plus, there were still no traces of other predators to warrant that edge he was looking for there on that topic. None fresh enough to even halfway consider... That search was feeling fruitless and in place of it, she moved boldly--present, and very in front of his nose.

He eased up and refocused for a moment to take it in properly, noted the trees, other landmarks, and the rough area to try to remember it as a possibility. If there had been a cat roaming through here any time recently, he couldn't say anymore so going forward, would just have to keep lookout and hope that he could spot it before it could make trouble for the pack--somehow. Which didn't do much else for his here and now.

Not ready to discredit her entirely but still aware this was seeming to have two sides, he exhaled slowly. His tail swayed slow as he watched her too easily look back to him, indicating the mischief starting to shift into his tone too if she was going to lead like that. “Hm.” he breathed, ears just starting to splay faintly. “Maybe it moved on through already,” he supposed, though he still sniffed to nothing. Nothing except Sachiko, really, so her distraction outweighed considerably. He still went striding closer to her, head low and gait easy. Close, but not quite to touch, and almost playful in his last steps. “We have nothing here for it,” he groused because he was tired of cats. Some were fine, they had enough to deal with.

Would he be furious at her games? Furious that she would so childishly lure him out so they could be alone together with the threat of a possible feline lurking near by which was frankly not so funny considering their past with such beasts - or did the surge of adrenaline give way to something else as the siren's call continued to sing in his ear away from prying eyes.

After all, no one had to know. She had no interest in the moment to keep him all to herself, but perhaps they could fool around as two single individuals until he found himself a woman to occupy his bed and offer a family. Perhaps this was enough to push for companionship with no strings attached. An ice breaker despite how uncouth it may be given the reason why she forced them to be alone.

But there was no fury to see in his eyes as he approached, close but not quite touching. She could feel a heat radiating from his body, or at least believed she felt it, and it infectiously brought her own body to a fever. His expression said nothing but it was his deliberate footwork that signaled enough. Was he ready?

Walking shoulder to shoulder with the man, their hairs barely touching as she played his game too of close - but not close enough. Letting the tips of their hairs begin their little game and tickle the skin they were tied to respectively. She’d let her gaze fall from the path and onto him. Softly speaking with a coy, almost shy and guilty tone. “Would you be furious if I said I lied?” There was no need to keep up the facade. Surely he knew there were no signs of a feline here.

To be completely transparent without voicing her intentions, with a flirtatious touch of her tail against his, she carefully watched the stoic man with her breath nearly failing with anticipation. The way he was difficult to read was enthralling. A game she had yet to play. Would she win this time?

Sensations light, but so poignant... he drew back his head, canting it slightly as he listened. Antares tried to imagine himself furious, especially over this and came up with nothing that felt right. This left him supposing not.

When she's comfortably warm beside him, fury was a far-away thought, though he recognized the very delicate line this was. While a guarded secret or two of his, he's not exactly a stranger to the notions. But so close to home, it isn't his usual.

He was just as much to blame, if he looked at it right. There was no urgency in him to make distance from something of the sort. “Furious, no..” he answered slowly. “If so, you'd have fooled me,” he chuffed as he conceded, tail flickering back as he let more of himself lean towards her touch. “Was this always the intent..?” Just him? He had taken the bait, only left to wonder where she intended to lead him to, if not to this moment now. So wrapped up in the possibility of a tiger, a threat to the pack that he wouldn't be late for this time, not again--he'd be reeled in elsewhere easily.

Warm hues carefully watched his expression and still, it was virtually impossible to decipher. If anything she could see the cogs in motion within from the angle she could see into his rich blues - but what it meant couldn't be told. Her heart raced excitedly, a gamble she had taken and now ready to receive whatever would come from it. A prize? Hopefully.

So he wasn't furious, at least that's what he said at first. The confirmation with his body leaning against hers solidified... something. Sachiko didn't want to put all her eggs in one basket nor count her chickens before they hatch as the saying goes, but she was getting a rather good feeling about it all. “Yes.” She cooed in return, finally being honest about it all. “Would you have come if I was truthful from the start?” Taking the opportunity of closeness to lick his chin.

“Or did I perhaps add a little excitement to this little excursion of ours?”

She confirmed, he exhaled slowly, honest enough and able to lean into her contact. Would he have come to such a call? It might depend. He could stay true to a simpler thought, if it struck. Everything got easier each time he did. He also didn't have a lot of reason not to, free to his whims and even his own lonelier tendencies should have an end sometimes. Besides the looming sense that kept him tempered, dutybound on his best of days, he couldn't say no entirely. “I don't know,” he supposed, eyes narrowed as he reflected. As inviting as she might be able to make it, who would he be not to listen?

But he chuffed a soft laugh, able to agree wholeheartedly with that piece and forge ahead on that note. “Definitely more eventful than expected,” he agreed easily, for not every day could he be snared like this--or so he had liked to think. She was close, so he tried to nudge her neck and cheek with his nose. “I should expect the unexpected more..” he drew off and shook his head low, ears tilting back. He knew just what it all sounded like and so did she, but he was finally able to better accept the flow, then breath deep the company.

He glanced ahead of them, to the twisting routes of the pass that lie beyond, trying to gauge what he knew and what he didn't already. It was no easy place, though this already gave it a sense that it could keep a secret--the opportunist was willing to notice.

Excitement grew as he leaned into her. The sound of his exhale warming the deepest recesses of her insides and creating a buzz within her thoughts.

I don't know. he said, which was enough to confirm for the little woman that she had done the right thing in order to get what she wanted. Antares didn't pull away from her affections and so she didn't stop. Letting him reflect and chuckle in tandem at his realization to expect the unexpected.

Pulling back just a bit as he shook his head, those dark blues glancing to the path ahead - that wasn't right. Sachiko's lips pursed, not too pleased that the man wasn't focussed completely and utterly onto her.

Rounding to the front of his sights, she desired all of Antares' attention. Sauntering into his line of sight on the path ahead, she sighed dramatically to voice her disappointment.

“Are you afraid of being seen with me?” Or was it worse than that - was he not interested and just being kind by not pushing the swan away?

Before Antares could even get anywhere ahead of himself, she checked him swiftly by interrupting his line of sight. Evidently to remind him, bringing his focus back down to what was at his nose now, and telling that she read him well enough to see. His ears angled backwards first though, the rest of him drawing closer to Sachiko's pull still as he peered back. Afraid? “What? No,” he exhaled, face warmed, a touch sorry that that was her assumption for his horizon-skimming. “I do appreciate the privacy here, sure,” for he was a little bolder, able to focus better. But if he was seen with her, then so be it. She must not mind being seen with him. “Unless you have.. different plans,” he offered with a sly head tilt, as the sleek swan had already largely guided the course so far.

If anything, she had the family ties here--he just worked for their clan, lived in their claim, watched their offspring grow, of course. He was not royalty-related in these mountains, but he did trust his job security well enough. She was a fascinating beauty, while he considered his own looks much simpler when they were borrowed right from his mother, so mere appearances were not really the issue in his head. He didn't want to complicate anything bigger than just himself, though he could reason that he should loosen the grip sometimes, and just let it be--enjoy. She had singled him out like this, so...

Antares reached low to swipe a lick on her chin, and if she would let him, nosing towards her cheek to deepen the nearness. She had been unapologetically close to him before, so he didn't feel like a complete stranger with the motion. Though, new. He drew back slowly, clicking his teeth mischievously while carefully watching her to see what she would do with the new space.

Her disappointment was dramatic, but earnest. It never felt good to think one was being refused advances. Not being good enough one way or another. There were other men, that was for certain; but right now she wanted this one. A companion in the pack to satisfy each other's needs until Antares could find someone more permanent to take as his bride (seeing as Sachiko truly believes she will never have a mate herself; her thoughts).

Just as she pondered over the fright of being rejected, he interjected. Warm eyes glancing back over her feathery shoulder to see the near insult she had given him by her assumption. A smile touching her face once more with a gentle sway of her tail, pleased that she was mistaken. Offering a coy shrug of that same shoulder in regards to having any other plans.

Closing her eyes she felt the warmth on her chin, and leaned into his touch shared between cheeks.

Not wanting this to become too serious, their contact broke only for her to give a peace offering in the form of a short, shallow playbow. “Prove to me you aren't afraid.” A little challenge to lighten the mood. To forget the lies of a feline roaming and just get lost in the fun and games between adults. In an instant she was off, bouncing away in a light step, rounding tree trunks and rocks as obstacles for the hopefully trailing Antares.
