No more than two, please! Please also let @Izumi have the first post.

She had died.

The moon had fallen, and so too, had she. Almost as if she and the moon had been one.

Being the runt of a large little of five giants, surviving anything combat related had truly never been in Hikari’s cards.

Life and death was a cruel, endless cycle. Life had fooled Hikari into thinking that the end was near; the children had managed to escape during the raid, but it hadn’t been long before they were separated.

Hikari had been captured and slaughtered — not that Hikari had any memory of it. A second life had been granted to her, unknowest to her; having arrived in Canis roughly a year ago, and living under the radar, in waiting.

Someone would come for her. If not her parents, assuming they had somehow made it out alive, her siblings, surely, would find her. So she had waited until it had become apparent that none would come for her.

That included both her family as well as those she had just escaped. It was a mixed feeling that made Hikari uncomfortable. Just to be sure, though, she had remained incognito, within the snowy mountains and terrain of the tundra — until she’d come upon the herd of bison that had many little calves that she could steal from them.

A herd that seemed to be in the middle of a migration of sorts. Even better for Hikari, who had chosen to follow close behind as they lead her deeper into the southern tundra, until they exited into the upper mountains, and through a river, and into the plains.

Their large bodies, and Hikari’s too, became clouded in a mist-like vapor from their body heat, causing the water on their coats to turn to vapor, and giving off a ghostly appearance. She would wait for them to settle in the plains for the night before striking.

It was only a matter of time now.

It was sunset, and it was soon time for Izumi to settle back into headquarters soon. It seemed as though @Aika had gone to leave the cranebird already, seeing that her scent had been sparse in these plains the past couple of days. Izu admittedly was a little upset she did not choose to stay a while longer, seeing as how long the five of them have been apart -- though in knowing that the swan was alive and well was the only sign Izumi needed. They'd cross paths again, someday; as her feet also traversed these lands feverishly.

She hadn't managed to make a single good catch today, not even from the smallest of catches that would've been relatively easy to snack on -- call it her luck. Her stomach rumbled with a cry for some sort of nutrition, so even when there was one of her, and the scent of many large, powerful bison filled their air -- she prowled like the wind.

There were many of them. A herd never this large to be seen during the day time, and judging from their scent, they must've travel from up north. Clouds of condensed air fumed from their thickened wooly coats like steam and Izumi couldn’t help but pause in her tracks to look -- it was an eerie sight. One that intimidated the princess, and even made her hesitate the attempted hunt -- yet she was drawn in regardless. Both by its undeniable beauty, and her unquenchable hunger.

Izumi could not take down an entire bull by herself, as much as the thought would've been convinient for her. So she watched on, icy lavenders scanning the feild for any injured, or any weak ones of the bunch -- possibly even young. It was much better oppertunity considering they seemed to be settling down for the night, so she couldn't miss this chance.

One by one they fell into rest, and the girl's steps quickened ever so slightly. The hunt had driven her full focus -- to the point where she did not even notice who she was about to bump into...

^^The sun, like their empire, had fallen; leaving darkness in its wake, and the herd of bison were settling down. The mist that they had created from traveling through the river would be perfect camo for Hikari to come in and pick off their young and/or their weakest link ; it was the only hope for Hikari to get something decent to eat.

She was a smol bean, after all, and especially compared to the rest of her family. And though Hikari would have rathered not to spoil her beautiful coat in the hunt, survival came first. Her coat could be cleaned later; her life, however, was a different story.

Hikari held back to study them; how prey animals didn’t think to check their surroundings. Oh, did they think themselves safe, in this giant herd? That none would see them? Did they not care? Oh, what it must be like.

Hikari licked her lips and stepped forward when another, taller canine literally bumped into her, and Hikari had to keep herself from going off on her. Doing so, and she’d wake/spook the entire herd, and Hikari wanted to get something to eat before causing a stampede down the plains..

So, instead, she’d look up with a sneer on her face, her eyes slowly widening as she came to register who it was, that had the audacity to bump into her.

Izumi.

The girl nearly fell over the small creature near her knees, a yelp nearly slipping from her maw in suprise, but the crane (less than) skillfully caught herself on tensed forlimbs and a silenced cry -- scaring away a herd of several-hubdred pound beast could not only cost Izumi a meal, it could cost her a life if she were to ever cause a panicked stampede...

Gathering herself on long, delicate legs, the cranebird snapped her head towards the source all at once I'm assumption that it was possibly a bison calf she'd trampled over by accident, or simply a wolf that had been in the way of the hunt -- both of which situations she might've had to hop a few steps back, lest she risk an attack. Though what the princess found instead was neither of those things...it was something far more suprising.

Her eyes squinted to adjust to darkness, scaning the wolfess up and down with lilac eyes that widened upon realization “ひっ-!?” Izumi meant to exclaim at the sight of the snow serpent -- rembering the situation she was currently in and nearly left her mouth slightly agape instead....Hikari!?

Mom's third born.

Her older, yet shortest sibling.

The 雌犬 -- as Izumi had used to call her, whenever they'd used to argue or fight as kids....yet never in the presence of their family as cursing was "Unbecoming of a young princess."

she was here as well-!

^^Had there not been an entire herd of very large bison that could have woken and hulk smash’d them all to death, Hikari most certainly would have screamed bloody fucking murder and acted like she’d broken a bone, because that’s the type of dramatic bitch nonsense that she was.

Ah, but their lives were at sake, and so was their meal. Hikari could not do these things, so she sneered up at her taller, younger sister. The big crane bird who was just as shocked — if not more so — to see the snow serpent there, standing before her, with the most unpleasant, annoyed look on her face.

An ear flickered, and Hikari glared down at her coat, then at Izumi’s. No doubt she was judging, already, a brow arching with the slow lick of her lips as she eyed all the bison that was there. Ah, too bad Izumi hadn’t come in with others, how Hikari wished to see these bison dead and ready to devour..

Though, too, a slow smile came to her lips; lips that normally did not hold emotion. If Izumi wasn’t paying attention, she might have missed it. Turning her head to quickly groom over her shoulder, where Izumi had touched her, Hikari glanced up to her sister, and then towards the herd of bison.

As Hikari would stare the woman up and down in judgment, Izumi would do the very same defensively -- quite literally looking down at the woman as a silent poke towards her minimal height. Despite being a quiet child who did not verbally interact with her family much, living under the same roof meant no escape from taboo family dynamics -- with sibling rivalry being one of them. Hikari and Izumi were always butting heads in their younger days -- the crane was usually a peaceful creature lest something or someone bring out the vile iciness within her, and Hikari was the ultimate trigger for that. Their personalities were like fire colliding with ice...and yet despite that, they still had their moments together as a family...they were always siblings at the end of the day, after all. After every petty, childish argument they'd find themselves getting into -- there was begrudging forgiveness.

She was still a bitch, though.

and thankfully Izumi would miss the way Hikari cleaned her fur when her eyes turned to briefly scan the herd, seeing if she had made enough noise to actually spook them. If she were to catch the act, the crane would've surely gotten angry about it.

Her expression would turn neutral, and calm, once again -- a yawn escaping her maw as she glanced back towards the herd, then to her sister; “私はそれを気にしません...” the crane would say, though could not help but slide in a dry comment towards the end while scanning the herd for any calves.

“踏みにじられないように頑張りますが、すべてがあなたの上にそびえ立っているようです。” yet her voice lacked much bite, as it was meant more as a jab than anything. She kinda...missed Hikari...

^^Once a bitch, always a bitch, wasn’t that how the saying went? Not quite, but it was for Hikari. It was, also, as though no time had passed between them; the snarky near-twins back at their games and their ways with each other without hesitation.

And though she was a bitch (and proud of it, okay) and especially to Zuzu, Hikari never pushed too far. Family was family, after all and Hikari wasn’t one to cut ties over silly nonsense.

“それがあなたがここにいる目的ではありませんか?” Suggesting that it was her job to keep Hikari alive.

Hikari took a deep inhale and a solemn nod; it was hard not to miss the crane bird. Though now it was her turn to eye the herd of bison, wishing that Zuzu hadn’t traveled alone. A small gathering of their siblings, or something would have made things much, much easier.

And then, the most divine idea occurred to her. It sent chills and thrills up her spine. Excitedly, she looked at her sister with arched brows and the sway of her tail with an expression that said: are you thinking what I'm thinking?

Quote:was given OOC permission by Akando to join!

While the two looked on and formulated a plan, Tallulah approached from behind. She made quite clear her intentions to assist the hunt, eyeing the prey with interest before wordlessly looking to the pale wolves. Not only that, she gave a soft chuff of greeting. "Evenin'."

She stopped a respectful distance away, eyes locked on the two. "Could I help ya out?" Her tail swayed like a banner behind her, slightly wagging "buffalo are tough blighters, but if ya want to hunt with each other only... I'll leave." It was just polite to ask, after all. If they wanted to be alone...

Who was she to deny?

Sorry for the wait i've been slow due to work. I WANNA CONTINUE ♡

Her ear twitched in slight annoyance at the comment, of her being a giant. Most of her family had been as tall as her, but it didn't stop the crane from developing insecurities of her height and whether it was feminine and how it was normal to tower over the other kids she grew up around. She would've opened her mouth, probably to say something slick again, bit would turn her nose back towards the herd and pouted silently instead.

Izumi couldn’t have imagined what went on in the serpent's mind 90% of the time, and right now was no better. The crane's lilac eyes had trained themselves on her sister, now, after hearing her tail sway softly against the grasses below. Eyebrows wrinkled and worried as she gave her the most stereotypical "Are you thinking what I'm thinking" look imaginable. Was Izumi thinking what Hikari was thinking? The answer was a resounding no. As a matter of fact, the crane didn't think she wanted to know what she was thinking and was growing grey hairs of stress even thinking about it. Whatever Hikari was up to, it sounded like bad news.

She open her mouth just then, to say something in question towards the fae's intentions, before suddenly a voice rang from behind them, and a sharp, icy gaze of lilac was cast over the woman's shoulder in suprise -- her hackles raising equally. A patchwork stranger who had offered to help, yet at this time of night caught by suprise, she couldn't help her wariness.

but...they could use the help.

Silently, her gaze held onto the stranger for a few more seconds as if scanning them, before a chuff of air -- a silent yet apprehensive sign of approval -- was coupled with a nod of her head.

^^Hikari should have known, though, hadn’t she? When had the two ever really been on the same page? If they were thinking the same thing, at the same time, it would make history, that was certain. Of course, she never had any truly remarkable ideas, either, and this one was a testament of that.

She huffed softly, but the arrival of a dirty female with two mismatched eyes came by offerin’ their help — more like a chance at a free meal. With the giant and tiny Hikari, they could use the help; Hikari was the worst at hunting.

“Mayhaps if the prey was smaller, and we could actually take ‘em down with just Izzy here,” Hikari didn’t like askin’ for help, from no one, especially some filthy stranger who couldn’t even bathe.

“Would be easier if we could… steer the herd into pack lands.. ”

And there it was, Hikari’s terrible but (if Hikari did say so herself) brilliant idea.

The first woman she had noticed gave approval. The other seemed vocally uncertain. Tallulah hummed thoughtfully, ignoring the pointed looks at her. She wasn't a vain creature anyway, so it made no sense to get worked up if the shorter siamese point saw an issue with her appearance. "Well, I saw a sickly lookin' yearling" she pointed out with her snout, jabbing it toward the back of the herd "when I was coming toward ya." Pack lands? Whose pack?

She didn't know, assuming it was Ms. Kore's pack.

The only one she actually knew had a pack around here. Perhaps a bad idea, in her humble opinion. If they charged into a pack's land with killer intent, the folks would assume they stole prey and had bad intentions too. She turned to the more disgruntled short wolf. "Maybe if ya chased that one, one o' us could join you when you secure it?" Give the most important job to the uncertain... It was a tactic to boost confidence and inspire kinship "then one o' us could wait to pounce in the grass."

Be it the tall one or Tallulah herself. It didn't matter. She waited to see if they'd go for her plan.

Other than the patched woman's sudden -- and not fully addressed -- appearance from behind them, Izumi had no personal qualms about their presence nor their appearance. Other than the fact that she did not know or expect them to come. There were wolves of different lands with varied appearances, and the sight of one than didn't look like your average wolf couldn't have suprised her anymore. Ecspecially when her own family wouldn't have exactly been seen as 'normal' to an outsider.

Her ears flattened against her head, mildly annoyed by the sound of Izzy exiting her sister's mouth. The cranebird wasn't fond of nicknames -- no matter how close she was to someone. Not only did each one given to her sound stranger than the last, but she could wrap her head around why it was so difficult to call her by the one she was born with. Though it wasn't important enough to open her mouth over, so she didn't. What she did open her mouth over, however--

“何だよ? 気が狂ってるのか?? 絶対にない。” Izumi hissed, turning her muzzle in the direction of the snow serpent. She knew she wasn't going to like this one bit, and was curious as to why her sister was insistent on trying to get the the two of them killed....or three, in remembering that a third party had joined.

A third part who had invented an idea that sounded much, much safer than the last, and before Izumi could interject with her own ideas of what they should do -- “I'll do it then, stay here.” -- she had already gathered to her feet to stalk towards the injured-one-out. Izumi hadn't asked the woman where this injured calf was, nor bothered to stay for final thoughts. She feared that if she did it would give Hikari more room to either argue or create more chaotic ideas -- and Izumi was not here for it.

Half way into the space between them and the sleeping herd was when the siamese then realized she didn't know where the sickly yearling they'd mentioned was, and her gaze would slowly trail back towards the splotched woman near her older sister. In a silent plea to point her in the direction...
