Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

She dreamed.

Long ago did Vendrussel hold a dream about what was assumed to be the Leviathan's Sepulcher. The stars broke and a wolf from the heavens soared within the plains — she saw it, she didn't know what it was but assumed to be a sign of days of unknowing why she was within primordial, and what the ancients purpose was for her. She then dreamed of the ocean, the great rocks moving and a serpent within it's depths ; a calling she assumed, and a feeling she had to move toward the west and continued looking and looking — until she found, but not without troubles.

Then she dreamed again.

This time the serpent rose from the depths, stone as it looked, eternal it was within the waters and looked at her, and toward the mountains. It held something within it's hands but she couldn't see it, she didn't know, for it roared and into the heavens that it went. In peace, no haste to give or something that stirred in the depths — only a silence that followed, until she woke up.

She knew it had to mean something, and she rose from her slumber in the night, looking into the dark sea. Beyond that was the mainland, seeing nothing but the dark abyss, and contemplating ; for her prayers and answers all this time were left unanswered, and only now. They gave something, but Vendrussel could not read it.
