Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

researched timeframes for this particular case of poisoning and fevers in canines. maybe @Madmortigan

She had been doing as @Madmortigan had bade her, ridding their lands and subsequent lands of the vermin. It was only right that she had gotten thirsty, blood not quite as hydrating as water but even then she would turn her nose up at the blessing her body with the blood of scum, so she had been thirsty. The little Witch had not strayed too far from the Elk lovers, finding herself morbidly curious of the girl who she had seen twice now and she had been deep in her task, her mission to really care about where it was that she was going.

Nymeria had lapped the water readily, greedily, tail wagging behind her. She felt completely invigorated knowing her mission was going well and that she would be able to return to her big brother with news of her constant victories, little bones coming with her as her usual keepsakes. Perhaps presents, too. Had she been a bigger wolf, a more meatier wolf, then perhaps it would have taken longer for the effects to show. Nymeria felt the way her sinus' grew blocked and painful, breathing coming in shorter breaths and a fever had come on. She hadn't noticed the signs until they were too late, something that she would forever be angry about -- she had poisoned others before, watched as it would take them out.

She should have noticed the signs.

The little Witch lay, shivering with a runny nose as she coughed, having given up trying to gather the energy to continue back home. Back to Morty. Nymeria seethed inside as she felt her ribs constrict as she heaved, ghostly gaze glassy as she threw up. In the midst lay blood, splattering through and dangling from her lips. Nymeria sighed, breath rattling, her brothers name on her tongue as she tried to keep herself awake. She knew what was going to come, she hadn't a chance to fight it when it had come on quickly -- something that she knew could happen. Poison could happen relatively quickly, a day or two after one ingested or multiple days after.

She hadn't anything with her and she didn't know what had poisoned her exactly, her brain too tired to back track her steps but the water lay not too far from her, droplets christening her forehead from where she had dragged herself out of it before her body had become too weak. Nymeria wheezed, a hacking cough wracking through her but in the moments after, when her body slumped, only silence came.

When he found her body she was freshly cold, flies congregating in the glossy, congealing edges of her eyes and mouth. Madmortigan ran to her, already knowing it was too late.

Reeling, the Harbinger tipped his head to the heavens, rending a piercing eulogy from the seething depths of a dark and violent sorrow.

Violet eyes searched for an explanation, thoughts tipping to neighbors and strangers alike. All he could smell was rot. So he followed it.

  • Death
Death came in its sweetest fashion. There was no judgement, no deserved or unwilling-it was an inevitable ending for all living creatures. The faceless dark that swallowed them all. The shadows whispered the darkest night and of course, the Witch followed. She favoured the seclusion of thick fauna, the shadows wrapping over her ebony and navy form. Her blazing eyes were the only giveaway, shining with delight at the scene that had befallen.

The Harbringer had sung a mournful cry that would make those with tears cry. To those that cared, heart wrenching in sorrow. But not for Caella, this was only a warning. A cold shiver; the kiss of death ran down her spine and just like before, she felt the connection. To the ground. To the earth. An omen, truly. This was surely bad signs, warning flares of things to come.... she would have to seek the stars guidance and insight to this tragic loss of life.

As Madmortigan left, she revealed herself from the shadows to take a closer look. Yes. She could smell death and decay within the waters, the river-though seemingly harmless, lay with ominous intent. Bright golden eyes blazed with intrigue, lowering her muzzle to inspect the deceased form. Ah.. the sister. She had seen the female around their leader many times before, clearly a relative with the distinct black and white markings. But they had never conversed. With an almost bored expression, she clucked her tongue. Such a waste of life.

With that, the crone turned her back and returned to her Sanctum. She must await for The Harbringer's return.
