She had been doing as @Madmortigan had bade her, ridding their lands and subsequent lands of the vermin. It was only right that she had gotten thirsty, blood not quite as hydrating as water but even then she would turn her nose up at the blessing her body with the blood of scum, so she had been thirsty. The little Witch had not strayed too far from the Elk lovers, finding herself morbidly curious of the girl who she had seen twice now and she had been deep in her task, her mission to really care about where it was that she was going.
Nymeria had lapped the water readily, greedily, tail wagging behind her. She felt completely invigorated knowing her mission was going well and that she would be able to return to her big brother with news of her constant victories, little bones coming with her as her usual keepsakes. Perhaps presents, too. Had she been a bigger wolf, a more meatier wolf, then perhaps it would have taken longer for the effects to show. Nymeria felt the way her sinus' grew blocked and painful, breathing coming in shorter breaths and a fever had come on. She hadn't noticed the signs until they were too late, something that she would forever be angry about -- she had poisoned others before, watched as it would take them out.
She should have noticed the signs.
The little Witch lay, shivering with a runny nose as she coughed, having given up trying to gather the energy to continue back home. Back to Morty. Nymeria seethed inside as she felt her ribs constrict as she heaved, ghostly gaze glassy as she threw up. In the midst lay blood, splattering through and dangling from her lips. Nymeria sighed, breath rattling, her brothers name on her tongue as she tried to keep herself awake. She knew what was going to come, she hadn't a chance to fight it when it had come on quickly -- something that she knew could happen. Poison could happen relatively quickly, a day or two after one ingested or multiple days after.
She hadn't anything with her and she didn't know what had poisoned her exactly, her brain too tired to back track her steps but the water lay not too far from her, droplets christening her forehead from where she had dragged herself out of it before her body had become too weak. Nymeria wheezed, a hacking cough wracking through her but in the moments after, when her body slumped, only silence came.^^
